Typing from a phone so nothing too in depth, but the Chron says the following:

Perkins - suffers a nut allergy and ate the wrong food a week ago. He was treated immediately in hospital bit has had to rest for a week. This has happened to him before and if he rushes back its been counter-productive. No conspiracy there. Flicker says its not ideal but Perkins is one of the fittest players he's ever worked with so he won't be too far behind.

Butterfield - Keith Hill still doesn't think that we god enough for Butterfield but isn't going to mention money at all this season (aye alreyt - we'll see how long that one lasts). The money from Butts is going to be used to offset the £750k drop in TV revenue this season. That is the only way the club could give Hill the same budget he had last season.

Greer - Preece says that he spoke to Greer when they played a friendly game and he wanted to sign for us. Brighton would not let him go at all though. Frustrating one that.

Silva - Hill is going to "treat him like a son" - hope that doesn't taking him swimming with Sidney!!

Hassell says that he is looking really good in training and can go to the top. We got him for free but Liverpool will a "hefty" slice of any transfer.

Worth the 75p today I thought.

What's happened to the money from Shackell and Vaz Te if the Butterfield money is going to offset TV money losses? Surely there must be some left over from that plus last years TV money.

Wonder if Cryne has taken something out of the club to repay money he has loaned us in the past???

Mystery. Well over a million was quoted offsetting 750k, the rest given to Keef to ensure he has last years budget? Those load of free transfers must be on 15k a week then...

We must be paying Dagnell, Dawson, Collins, Golbourne and a kid from Liverpool the equivalent of Ibrah's wage because that's where the rest of Butterfields and the whole of Vaz Te's monies gone, on top of wage cuts an all.

Fair enough, thanks for that. He would be well within his rights to do so anyway if he chose to.

Hopefully part of that 'budget' should be sizeable enough to go in for Greer again with a serious offer that might even be considered by Brighton.

Perhaps the player can hold them to ransom if he wants to come to us, just like certain club captain centre halves have done to us in the past

Is anybody surprised about the Butterfield money not going back into the improvement of the squad? I'm not.

Last summer, we were promised that the 750k loss in TV revenue would be covered by "our commercial activities", sponsorship and the like I presumed. I take it they failed to deliver on that one. Obviously.

But even when reading that ******** statement they doled out just prior to Hillcroft's appointment, I had about as much faith in it as I have in Dwain Chambers running under 10 seconds in London. BFC lie. Especially this particular regime, who also promised in that statement last summer that the quality of our squad was paramount, and we wouldn't lose our better players. We were told it was Albert's definition of madness to keep doing the same thing whilst expecting different results. Unfortunately - for us supporters - that statement was about as trustworthy as a smackhead.

So now we are told that the paltry figure we received for our best talent in years - who Don refused to enter negotiations with last summer btw - will not go back into rebuilding our squad. It will plug the 750k deficit.

Perhaps the club should have used the myriad ideas that we supporters have suggested over the last 12 months in an attempt to garner extra, much needed income? I mean, this is our 125th anniversary campaign, an ideal opportunity if ever there was one to make money, to be bold. Or, to again quote that statement from last summer - "to be more radical".

But no. We get a badge with 125 on it. And they increase season ticket prices, unless you were willing to fork out 4 months before the season begins. They drop the outrageous category system, of £16, £23 and £30 entry. And replace it with a flat rate figure. Yipppeeee, about time. Oh but wait, the flat rate is £28.
And so our gates will drop by another 1,500 I imagine. Again. They may as well close one of the stands at this rate. I'm doing the away games this season as I'll probably be able to buy ale, get proper grub, decent entertainment, and be in amongst a decent crowd with a decent atmosphere. I'll do the local derbies at Oakwell, and a handful of other bigger fixtures. But you have lost me as a season ticket holder of 18 years BFC. And I doubt I'm alone.
But it's the management I feel sympathy for. I wasn't impressed with our dramatic drop-off in form/performances etc last season, and I have my concerns on the playing side this time around too. But if ever a manager is working with hands tied at Oakwell it's this one. Talk about pulling the blummin rug.

Don't forget, we got rid of the likes of Maccavelli, Gray, Doyle, and before that Lovre and Haynes. They were all 'alleged' high earners, so surely we've saved money there? I very much doubt we have given similar terms to a group of gambles in Mellis, Etuhu, Mido and Silva. Have we???

We also got 500k for Vaz Te, around £1m for Shackell, and summat for Haynes. The **** has that gone??? I take it we've fixed or bought new a scoreboard? Improved the facilities? Perhaps we've offered our POTY a new contract?

It stinks. But then we expect it to, don't we?

    Up the Reds etc.

*I decided not to mention The Don and his flying balls. My post was already long-winded enough.

Don't suppose the drop in season tickets and last years falling attendances have done much to swell the coffers

I don't 'want' to pick holes in our club. But anyone with a brain can see they are making mistakes on a regular basis. It's short termism in the exteme.

Take this legends match for example - if I was in charge of that idea, I would have organised a raffle of some kind, where supporters were able to buy a ticket for a set price, and 5 winners would be selected at random, who would then get 10 minutes each, playing WITH the legends at Oakwell. I thought that was a cracking idea, and know for a fact there would have been plenty of takers, should it have been implented and advertised enough.
