Reds edge closer to new manager
IT is understood that Barnsley have a shortlist of fve for the vacant manager's job at Oakwell, and interviews have begun to find the Reds' 10th full-time boss in as many years. Caretaker Simon Davey is among the five 'wise men'. The other names in the frame have not been disclosed.

Now i don't want to start speculating, but im going to anyway! but on Monday morning i saw Stuart McCall driving into Tankersley Manor at approx 11:15, maybe interviews been done there, probs just a load of B*ll*cks but?

McCall and Davey would be a good shout, but McCall was on a recent football program and he says he is happy at Sheff Utd and ruled out any thoughts of himself managing a football club. But they all say that don't they.

To be fair dont't think McCall would be a bad choice had a good grounding under Warnock, who although not his biggest fan is a good experienced manager.

Really - how do you know?

And if he did can we just get him to sign up straight away. Dont like him as a bloke but as a manager he would be good

    So much better than Blackwell

    From very early on...

my understanding from sources within Oakwell suggest that the ONLY name seriously being discussed was Stuart McCall

What is the difference between McCall and Davey ???................answer

    NOWT !!!

    Neither have managed a club
Both COULD BE good managers but no one knows this
Neither of them could be classed as experienced (and according to PC we are after experience)

How does he fit the criteria of "experienced manager"

He has no more experience than Simon Davey.

I would imagine Mcall is being groomed as Colins succesor, so its doubtful........

they would want him to go. If he did come and had a bit of success and colin retired or had a bad patch they would be straight on the phone trying to get him back.

For that reason alone it would be a bad move.

I think with the current names in discussions i would settle for Gary Megson. (not my first or second choice) The quality of names talked about as the final five Whinstanley,Little,Blackwell and Davey all fill me with horror.

    RE: From very early on...

I understand Warnock has a wrangle over his contract (a bit like Andy Richie had) He can't understand why the board are not discussing it with him. The Board say theres plenty of time left before he is out of contract (about 5 months) Ring any bells ?

My guess that the Blunts will want to hold on to Mcall for if Warnock does a bunk to another club.

    Well If We Aren't After........

Dowie, O'Leary, Worthington, Sheridan or Pardew i would say we might as well stick with Davey.

    I like the ..............

"I don't want to start speculating, but"

Do you know for definite that interviews for the BFC managers job were being held at Tankersley Manor?
There has been "talk" that interviews were being held this week but where/

Do you know for definite who are the people on the short list?
The only name I would say is likely to be on is Simon Davey.
