Wonder what this could be ...... Double exclusive in tomorrow's Chronicle Barnsley FC owner Patrick Cryne speaks about his football club and manager Simon Davey in tomorrow's Chronicle. Davey also speaks directly to the fans – and makes a plea that is not to be missed. Link here: http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/
At a guess davey will say summat like "To the Barnsley fans I would like to say that your club is my club. I would desperately like to have the chance to finish the building of this team, which is largely of my own selection. "I believe that you will see a big difference next season with a few key signings, albeit 12 months later than planned."
Lets (EVERYONE) get right behind him & really give him our full backing!! Fresh start again in the summer for everyone, some new players + Hume & things might be a lot better. It's no good keeping chucking managers out, the club needs stability & a new chairman!!!! For all the bad times & lows, Davey has kept us in this league 3 times & got to a FA Cup semi final on a low budget while once again bigger clubs than us have gone down!! STRONGER TOGETHER!!!
Simon to attempt world records in hand shaking, patting a fan on back whilst smiling and kissing babies on the napper at the next Open Day. 900 pictures to be put on Barnsleyone website to record the attempt.
On the other hand we could just get shut now and ........... ....... get a decent manager who can lift us higher than 5th from bottom, someone who might recognise that Bogdanovic is a centre forward and not a winger, someone that might recognise that JCR is JUST a winger and someone that might recognise that Odejayi is **** and will never be a Championship player as long as he has a hole in his arse
I am sorry to confirm But we are going to have to put up with him again for the season, as much as it really really pains me to say. I dont know what Cryne is thinking off but as far as im concerned itds not for the benefit of Barnsley football club. I was tolfd today thats its a 95% certainty he is staying.. for what is going to be a harder season next time round.
RE: I am sorry to confirm There is no one left in house to promote to manager on the cheap unless Don gets his tracky bottoms out. If only Andy Ritchie got the same protection as diamond Davey.
I'm no fan of Davey, but Andy Ritchie would have had us relegated long ago. I'm grateful to Ritchie for getting us promoted, but his side was not strong enough to stave off relegation, and he was determined to stick by it even if it got us relegated. He openly said that we were above ourselves in the championship. The bloke had to go.
RE: I'm no fan of Davey, but Andy Ritchie would have had us relegated long ago. I Agree Ritchie had a loyalty to the players who got us promoted. What people dont realise is thst Ritchie HAD identified playersHE wanted to bring in, the scouts and one in particular who i cannot remember his name pushed other players who werer subsequently signes above Ritchies head, this is what lead to the disquiet with Cryne. to summarise it is a FACt that ritchie wanted players, but the board did not back him. Ritchie will tell you that himself.
Is that why Cryne came on Radio Sheffield and Andy Ritchie would not strenghthen the squad even though funds were made available to him,the only player he wanted to fetch in was Danny Cadamarteri.
RE: I'm no fan of Davey, but Andy Ritchie would have had us relegated long ago. I dont know either way what would have happened if Ritchie stayed I`m not a clairvoyant. It was only 18 games into a season with a transfer window to come in January.
Cryne did not tell the whole truth There were things happening that Cryne never made public. Ritchie had a list of 17 players and was told all the money he could spend was £275,000 . How many players could he get for that amount? To say he did not want any players is just wrong. I suggest you go and ask Ritchie face to face and it may surprise you what he says. At least 3 players here now were on that list, JCR, Foster and Moore. I agree about Cadermateri tho` he is crap.
RE: I'm no fan of Davey, but Andy Ritchie would have had us relegated long ago. Yeh, I'm sure you are right.
Ritchie tried to opperate with him and Holden trying to do the work of 4 or 5 people.
The coaching staff was too thin on the ground and very little work was done when AR was at the Dentist annd RH back in Manx.
