So it turns out he'd been done for DD, the day before his accident. I wonder if he's considered the devastation his actions could have caused, while all the well wishes have been flooding in?
Agree the blokes got problems, didn't really agree with the minutes applause at Preston. Has no one thought about the lorry driver who's life Clarke Carlisle put in danger as well as the consequences of the lorry driver getting back behind the wheels. Very selfish of Carlisle to put others in danger.
It's emerged that he was charged with failing to supply a sample to police two days prior to the accident. I'm not sure why people are automatically assuming that he was at fault for this accident as a result of this, unless they've read more about the accident than I have.
Pedestrian on the A64 was struck by a lorry at 7:30 am. Not many places to go walking on the A64. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...sle-fighting-life-hospital-hit-lorry-A64.html
Just to be clear - i'm not suggesting he caused the accident. I don't actually know what went on there. People have misread my comments if that's what they're thinking. I'm referring to the devastation he could have caused, at the time he was done for DD. There's nowhere near enough condemnation by the footballing authorities, for people in football breaking the law. But that's hardly surprising, when it starts at the very top.
Think he got bagged before he went walking on the A64, pedestrian hit by lorry and air lifted to hospital.
I've just been reading up on this after not really knowing a lot about it. Still non the wiser. Very basic details about. The DD on Dec 20th, 2 days before the accident, for failing to provide a specimen is on SSN today. After his well publicised mental health issues I sincerely hope it was an accident and not an attempt to take his own life?!? Looks like he's no worse and should pull thro according to his wife on twitter
I've Just finished reading his book. The guy has had many issues in the past with drink and depression. The book is a great read but its almost like a 300 page suicide letter.
No excuse for drink driving I am afraid.....if he had killed my kids whilst over the limit, he should have asked me. I'd have gladly run him over. Footballers, ex or present don't know they are born. They ought to try a real job Ffs. Hth
I think anyone who goes for a walk on the A64 knows the likely outcome. I'm on there 5 Days a week and it's no place for pedestrians.
Whats it got to do with Footballers?...This is about a man Battling Depression , who its rumoured tried to take his own life...He could be from any walk of life, any profession...being an Ex Footballer has nothing to do with it...I agree the Drink Driving bit is inexcusable.
I've got a good friend who lives in that particular part of Yorkshire; he said immediately after the incident, that this was a suspected suicide attempt. In fact a member of the public had done the same, some days previous. I dont beleve anyone knew about the drink driving aspect.
He has tried to take his own life once before. He's quite obviously got deep mental issues. My thoughts go out to his wife and young kids.
I think the point was, he maybe battling depression while earning thousands of pounds a week for kicking a ball around for 90 mins a week, he needs to try working 7 days a week to only scrape by week to week, then he will know what its like to be really worried about things, the big nancy needs to suck it up a bit..
