Am I right in thinking that 21 games is the current club record for an unbeaten run of league games? I have a vague recollection from the 80-81 season when going to Huddersfield away that we had a chance to equal it, only to lose 1-0.

That’s my recollection also but will check in my reference books later.

We really didn’t turn up that day at Leeds Road. Could have been two or three - but we still had chances.

Also if we go unbeaten at home all season in the league would it be the first time on 50 years we have done so?

Yep. 67/68 promotion season. Haven’t done it since. Finished second behind Luton. Another promoted team were unbeaten at home too - Crewe.

I was at that Boro game and we gave it a right good go.
Boro were a top side at the time and we were unlucky not to get a draw. I think Craig Johnstone played for them that day along with Bosco Jankovic and Gordon Armstrong up front.
Mike Lester planted one in the bottom corner for us in front of a huge following from tarn.
I also remember bother after the game.

It was my 21st birthday and I spent it crammed into a corner of Ayresome Park with very little room to move and seeing us get beat.
I didn't care, we put on a brilliant performance against a top 6 1st Division team and it was an absolute joy to watch.
    Happy days. :)

Yes that’s right they were all in that Boro team Not sure but I think McCarthy hit post from a corner and his long throws caused them all sorts of problems .
There was bother before , during and after and lots of it .
I missed my coach from Barnsley bus station and along with the person who had purchased my ticket .
There were no mobile phones then so when Traccies put on an extra bus I paid once again. Hoping to catch up but no chance.
Saw loads of bother outside of ground . The only part of the ground you could pay on was the opposite corner from the Barnsley corner behind same goals.
So had to pay in , there were loads of reds fans in that corner and the Boro fans kept running up and thumping one if us and police did nothing only to grab the lads who retaliated .
Behind the goal between the reds and Boro fans was a family section which I eventually managed to get in for some sanctuary .
After the match just outside the ground there was pandemonium and believe it or not some coppers were just going thumping anyone they recognised as Barnsley fans.
Would love to know anyone that went in that corner and how they saw it .
It was one of the scariest moments of me watching reds and I’ve been in some scary moments including the crush at millmoor
The extra bus by the way was number twenty six or seven we took loads
