The Board of Barnsley F.C have drawn up a shortlist of applicants for the vacant First-Team Manager’s position and the interview process has commenced. The Board will seriously assess every aspect of the character they want to bring in to the football club before making a decision. It has been said that it is a tradition of Barnsley Football Club to change the Manager often, whereas reality suggests prior to Keith Hill's departure there had been only one managerial dismissal in the past six years. The Board has stated it is imperative that, as a Club, they realign themselves with the supporters. Barnsley Football Club need to become more involved in the community – an area in which it appears to have taken a backwards step over the past couple of years. The Board are hopeful of making an appointment prior to the Leeds United fixture on January 12th. So Robins, Davey & Ritchie resigned of their own accord?
I think what they are saying is that Davey was appointed in 2006 and between hos appointment and Hill's sacking only Davey had been sacked, as Robins resigned. Hence, immediately prior to Hill's sacking there had only been one sacking in the previous 6 years.
Dyson, so would I !!!!!!! Re-alignment of fans and Kevin Blackwell is polar opposite(s) and surely BFC Board know this? My reading into the statement "BFC need to be more involved in the Community" suggests the Manager/Coach will need to understand the Barnsley area, so maybe is a former player? Of course I may be very wide of the mark.........
Would Gary Megson "RE-ALIGN the supporters"? Management experience suggests he would do a good job BUT there is always the Sheff Weds connection and that is a very weak spot for ALL concerned (including Megson if he got the job). Not my first choice.
So it has to be someone who Wants the job Has respect in Barnsley Has experience at this level No one fits the bill IF O'Driscoll doesn't want it.
Until last month the board liked to tell the fans Robins had a massive budget, demanded more, and flounced out. Then it suddenly suited the board's purpose to undermine Hill so they started to insinuate that both manager's budgets were the same. I'm sure Hill will enjoy a similar revisionist board assessment when they lose their nerve with the new manager too.
Kevin Blackwell would drive fans away rather than re-align the club with the fans. Ex Leeds and Grunters and the way he handled the Hume-Morgan incident was deplorable. If they appoint him then I'm done with football.
Barnsley Football Club need to become more involved in the community points towards appointing either a former player or someone who has connections to the area. Shortlist: Neil Redfearn Mick Wadsworth Steve Davis
Not my first choice either but I'd take him over Blackwell. Having said that I'd take anybody else in the world over Blackwell. Anybody!!
Ritchie was the one sacking in 6 years. Davey had his contract terminated by mutual consent, and Robins walked over budget issues.
This statement says to me that we are unlikely to appoint an ex deedah manager. Looks as though SO'D isn't going to be boss as well due to a number of reasons - wages, bigger club ambitions, compensation package, too soon. So hopefully big names like Brown, Ince and Coyle are the ones on the shortlist (depending on wage demands).
Where do they get those figures from? Davey was sacked, robins left which is fair enough and hill was sacked. I also get the impression those figures were aimed at hill as that was all he went on about.
