On Twitter feed, update from Ben via Audioboo. Can't listen it right now, can someone transcribe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Basically, Mellon deserves the time to stake his claim, decisions are being made in private unlike last time, we'll be first to hear when there's something to say, in the meantime get behind Micky and the boys. Re the badge, its a toss up between one of the choices and sticking with the current one. Mansford hasn't had time to sort it out, as its an important decision and matters on the pitch are taking priority. I have a feeling there's about to be a meltdown from the usual suspects...
Ben needs to learn how to delegate. He must be rushed off his feet if he's doing everything from counting the votes for the badge to deciding who will be the new manager. I can't help but feel we could get a temp in to do the former and Ben's time could be better utilised elsewhere. Apparently today he's filing the club accounts and washing the players' socks.
It shops at 3 mins obviously before it should do. Ben only talks about Flicker. Then they're just about it and it goes off It must be a Club Statem......
Beat Yeovil and the job's Mickey's, is what that says to me. I'm backing Paul Heckie to get it, this time next year. Odds please....
Sadly I agree. He's basically said the plan was always for Mellon to replace him. Short sighted in the extreme
http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-manager-update-11122013-1229922.aspx Very good statement imo. I just hope that if Mellon is appointed he'll get the backing of the fans like any new manager should.
I'm not at all sure that's what he said at all. He said the Club weren't prepared to go public with the appointment in the same way they did last year. By saying they're giving Micky a chance it gives Micky hope that's he's not just keeping the seat warm otherwise there's no incentive for him to deliver the goods in a caretaker capacity. In the meantime it gives the Board the opportunity to ensure they get the right man to take the Club forward. That, in their opinion, might well be Micky Mellon. Ben's responses were measured. I thought he came over really well.
I still think that seeming lack of progress s because something is mulling the whole thing over. One guess is that this is Solskjaer, who has been linked to a championship club in the press. I am also guessing that it might not turn out as we/the board would like, if it is taking time to convince him. If it were Phelan, or Appleton, I think it would be done and dusted, as both are out of contract. I am trusting that the board have the savvy to get a good choice in this time, but we will see. I do hope that someone is not prevaricating between us and Wednesday. Either way, I can understand the board wanting to keep their cards close to their chest at this stage.
