Ok, a couple of regrets about this. The biggest one was that I couldn't be there that night, but I did watch it live on Sky at least. The next biggest is that six of the goals were scored at the "wrong end". Apart from that: Higgy shocking penalty miss Barnard great effort tipped onto the post and it rolled back to the keeper instead of a forward McClare missed two headers - ok they were difficult Ward just fired wide when it might have gone in I don't know if there were other missed chances not in these highlights but if those five above had gone in we would have got the unbelievable scoreline of 12-1. Twelve goals in a league game. Has that ever been done? 7-1 was a fantastic score but having got six in the first half we should have at least got to ten and given them an even bigger humiliation. Just being picky
Yes. Stockport County 13–0 Halifax Town (Third Division North, 6 January 1934) Newcastle United 13–0 Newport County (Second Division, 5 October 1946) West Bromwich Albion 12–0 Darwen (First Division, 4 April 1892) Nottingham Forest 12–0 Leicester Fosse (First Division, 21 March 1909) Tranmere Rovers 13–4 Oldham Athletic (Third Division North, 26 December 1935) And some more I think.
Barnsley 16 Gudja United 0 That's when us and Gudja were in the 4th division... you must remember that league game ?
Sorry I should have said has this feat been achieved in more recent times. I can remember a few nines and tens, but never more than that
afc mansfield beat retford 13-0 in northern counties east league premier in december does that count?
NO, because Retford were so short of players that day that they put out their Under 9s side against Mansfield's reserve team
