Can anyone remember what the number was , presumably started with 0898 and was it rubbish. was anyone an avid caller of it , wracking up outrageous phone bills to see if we’d signed the next Brian McCord?

Burned into my brain that number. The ‘start’ of the Prem season for me was seeing that number on Teletext under the Premier League team news section. The headline was always something like “Tykes set to sign foreign star”

Oh those were the days …, I remember the worst teletext headline I got duped into calling it for said something like ‘Reds announce double signing ‘ …, only to find out it was related to 2 new cats that were to be used as club mascots or something !!
I thought it was bad when I rang after seeing a headline like “striker deal nears completion, excited that we might be signing someone, only to find we were selling Andy Liddell. But that’s another level! I guess Patreon is the modern day equivalent of Clubcall
