We could well get mullered here. Nothing at all going forward and we look absolutely awful from set pieces.
Do you mean your own assessment of a football match that, lest it be forgot, lasts 90 minutes? How long are we going to have to put up with the comments of those short term immediate want it now demand it now instant culture and success posters who will not do anything to admit their rashness, but will surface once again as soon as they have the opportunity to? It is indeed embarrassing
Did you see the first half? If so, I think my opinion was rightly justified. We were shockingly bad. The second half was a different kettle of fish. We were up for the fight, determined and we should have gone on to win the match. So, it begs the question, why can't we perform like that for 90 minutes? Why can't we defend set pieces when it counts? Why can't we finish teams off? My opinions are my own. Not yours, and not anyone elses. I pay good money to watch my club and have done so for the past 20 years. I don't boo the team. I don't get on their backs when they're playing badly, but rightly or wrongly, I thought that first half tonight was absolutely horrific. So, in answer to your question of how long you're going to have to put up with the comments of the 'short term immediate'...(get your facts straight before firing inane soundbites at people) who want instant culture and success...probably a while yet. If you read my posts (albeit filtering through some of the occasional crap that I post) you'll find some of the most sensible and unbiased football posts on this forum. Anyone who knows football knows that tonight was a classic game of two halves, and as bad as we were in the first, we were good and far better in the second.
Let's be fair on this - it couldn't be any worse, could it? Alas, yes, the second half was a massive, massive improvement and we should have indeed gone on to take all three points.
yes it could. we could have conceded three more goals. that would have been worse. can't we just focus on the positives from what was a really good second half?
Am I the only one who thought we did OK in the first half? Apart from one mad moment from the corner we would have kept a clean sheet. It wasn't entertaining and we hardly had a shot but we stayed in the game and in the end should have won it. Lots of positives for me from last night.
The problem with the first half Was that we played hoof it football and looked intent on just aiming to keep a clean sheet. Something we failed to do. It was as if the mission from the off was to be 0-0 at half time. Mission failed. I was totally demoralised at half time just based on the style of football we seemed intent on playing.
Re: The problem with the first half Surely though, it's plain to see to the mgmt team? Plan A: play defensively, with main aim to not concede = negative performance, concede goals anyway and lose Play B: play offensively, with main aim to score a goal = positive performance, score goals and don't lose Why would anyone ever consider persevering with Plan A?? The worrying thing is though, had we gone in at 0-0, i'm almost certain we would have come out with the same tactics in the second half.
Re: The problem with the first half That was my view as well - and we would probably have lost if we had done 0 almost a lucky break going in behind which forced us to come out and attack second half. Not as lucky as Mellis getting crocked so Jim came on though
We certainly matched them in the first half hour. It was a steady game where we controlled possession for the most part of the first 20 minutes, then the chances started flowing at either end, with Ipswich looking the more likely to score. Then that 10 minutes before half time, we were dire, and could have been 3 down before half time. We bossed the 2nd half from start to.. well, the 88th minute I suppose. On the face of it, we really could have won, but it's a massive away point. We played what have been one of the leagues top teams this season, (the last 5 games aside), away from home and got a well earned point.
