Beginning of second half today there was a bloke walking across front of ponty end singing (you might have seen him). Remarked to my sister that he looked like he'd been on the powder. He came up the stairs near to where we sit and you could see a bag of coke sticking out of his back pocket clear as day. He stood in front of two stewards where in plain view of both of them said bag dropped out of his pocket. They then watched him pick it up and put it back in his pocket. He then had a short conversation with one of the stewards and carried on up the steps. Is carrying drugs about now allowed at Oakwell?
I’d say no as well, but you can’t really eject the manager from the ground can you. Although we play better if we did!
It appears so. There's been obvious signs of various members of our crowd being on the gear - mainly at away games. I guess we spend most of our budget searching the handbags of 80 year old pensioners
Did anyone else fill in the EFL SUPPORTERS SURVEY last week. Had I known how long it would take before I embarked on the enterprise I would not have completed it myself but I persevered in the spirit of the late Magnus Magnusson “I’ve started so I’ll finish.” One of the questions was something like “ How often have you seen someone taking cocaine at a football match this season?” I know it happens and the fact that it does contributes to my reluctance to attend away games (it is difficult to distance oneself from fellow supporters who partake in snorting the white powder ) as it obviously has an impact on behaviour but why do people do this sort of thing at a football match?
It’s getting more prevalent in all walks of society. They generally take it on a night out, but I’m guessing they take it wherever they’d normally have beer. So it’s not a stretch to think they’d take it at the match.
Because the rest of their week is so empty of meaning that they live for jamming a load of gear up their nose and acting a **** come 3pm on a Saturday. There's probably an interesting socioeconomic study to be done on why exactly this happens. I'm sure some will say it's ***** being *****, but there's probably some relation with the lack of social mobility and prospects/aspirations for young, working class lads that leads them to embrace a viewpoint somewhere between hedonism and nihilism.
I think if they take it so regularly it would be weirder if they decided to make an exception for the match. There seems to be a pattern of reporting recently that coke is making a comeback (perhaps it is with sections of football fans - the yoof etc), but in reality it never went away. It's always been there.
