I had a couple of unsolicited "Service Calls" from HSBC lately.

As soon as I picked up the phone, they started firing loads of questions at me to "confirm my identity". Needless to say, I didn't give them any information - but instead challenged them to prove their identity. They rang off rather hastily.

I've had a couple of similar calls from them recently. If it's important, they can write to me.

    Anyone else had anything similar?

Not had anything quite like that

But this morning, I got a phone call from a very unusual & unrecognised number, 00498002585590. Thinking it might be one of those numbers you sometimes hear about where if you answer it costs you an arm & a leg, I diverted it to my voice mail & no message was left.

Of course I'm now curious as to who the hell it was & what it was about but I'm in no real hurry to phone the number!

I had the same from Orange

At 9-0 oclck at night. Could they check my card details as they have had problems with deducting my monthly payment, although it is shown on my statement. Funnily enough I asked for my pass word which they knew. To be safe I told em nowt and cancelled my current card and reissued another within a few minutes.

    Thanks for that

I have a friend in Germany but I lost his number when I inadvertently put my mobile phone through a full wash & tumble dry cycle!

I've sent him an e-mail now. If it was him, mystery solved, if not, then the mystery deepens!

I've had 3 British Gas customers phone and ask if we had someone phone them to ask for card details, said nope we do not do that unless we arrange callbacks with customer if the system is down when they phone us.
