    Colgan stays
PLAY-OFF hero goalkeeper Nick Colgan is understood to have settled his differences with Barnsley.
The Barnsley squad were training today at Oakwell for the first time since clinching promotion at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff and Irish international Colgan was expected at the ground.
A new two-year contract will be drawn up for the 32-year-old.
Colgan's appearance will be relief at the club.
Understudy keeper Scott Flinders is high on the wanted list of a rival Championship club.
A bid was tabled and rejected for the 20-year-old yesterday.
"It did not match our valuation," manager Andy Ritchie stressed.
He is expecting an increased bid to be made for Rotherham-born Flinders, an under-20 England international who had trials at Chelsea and Wigan last season.
There could be a hitch in winger Chris Shuker agreeing a new deal with Barnsley. Although Ritchie was confident yesterday that the 24-year-old would return, there was a question mark over him today.
Michael Coulson, the new recruit from Scarborough, was expected at Oakwell.

highest bidder. suspect part of the Colgan deal is that he's been promised the shirt. difficult position for the club to be in, as much as Scott is one for the future, perhaps the dough could be better used just now.

    Good!

The cynic in me might be tempted to suggest that the club have realised that they can get decent dosh for Flinders so on that basis we will let him go but can offer a better contract to Colgan.

But being realistic - if we keep him and get good money from the sale of Scott that we can invest in some outfield players

What A Start To July 4th

GREAT news that colgan is staying. And on a 2 year contract instead of one of these piss poor one year extensions most have signed. Shuker will probably be staying too so i think only losing Mcphail isn't too bad and we would have taken losing just one player. Shame not everyone signed for two years but good news that contracts are more or less finished.
