With just one week to go until the big season kicks off, Nick Colgan has told the media how he thinks the squad desperately need two or three extra faces if we are going to avoid relegation. Colgan, who saved the vital penalty against Swansea in the play off final, has told the Yorkshire Post that he is unsure the club will be able to compete in the Championship with the players we have. Talking to the newspaper, he said the following… "We are down in numbers and, in my opinion, down a little bit on experience. Don't get me wrong, we have some excellent young players who will go on to play at a higher level but, as a squad, I don't feel we have enough experience. "Hopefully, the manager will be given a few more funds to strengthen. The chairman doesn't want to stretch the club financially, which I understand, but you don't need to bring in big names on big salaries. You need to bring in the right people on the right salaries which would enable the team as a whole to stay in the League, put bums on seats, and have a good season. "There's a wonderful, wonderful team spirit here - we showed that in many games last season - but team spirit alone can only get you so far. Not many of our young players have had experience in the Championship yet and I don't think they realise what a tough season it is going to be. "Nobody aims for a relegation battle but you have to be realistic and with the funds that have been made available it's going to be tough. Hopefully some of the punters who turned out for the play-off final and welcomed us back from Cardiff will come and cheer us on. We are certainly going to need as much support as we can get." also the report goes on to say that Rotherham are rumoured to be interested in Neil Shipperley and that we have no chance on Geof Horsfield
