Can someone tell me which one of the goals was his fault yesterday? To be they looked like defensive ****-ups by hecky in particular
Not sure what he was supposed to do on any. Mind you - there are some people who have a go at him for anything.......yesterday at 2-0 he'd got the ball in his hands and people near me were shouting "come on Colgan, we are 2 down, hurry up", this despite the fact that virtually all our players were on the edge of our area just jogging out so it wasn't as though anyone was looking for a quick break.
I loved the ironic cheers when he caught the ball Do that to hecky when he mnaged to tackle someone - or sorry I don't thing he did tackle anyone

The first. If he'd been like Watson (giving inspitation and confidence to his defence), he'd have been off his line and cleared the ball before H'by got near it.
Watson giving confidence to his defence Don't think so! Watson had real problems coming off his line too . He was a great keeper but he didn't inspire confidence in the defenders

Ipswich home 3-0 up seven minutes to go result 3-3 . Watson caused murder in the defence!

How about when he was about to collect the ball and Reid launched it into the stands. No communication is the problem.
Colgan likes to stay on his line, thats his style , however if we were going to play high up the pitch like Yesterday surely he should have been on the edge of the box to try and cover any balls over the top?

I used to like Watsons haymakers that he threw at the ball whenever a cross came anywhere near him. Watson couldn't field backpasses either.
I wouldnt blame Colgan for any of the goals yesterday but that doesn't mean he had a good game. He has many faults (communication, crosses, coming off his line, distribution) and although they often dont result in goals directly he causes panic in the defence and can leave us in dangerous situations that lead to goals or even just giving confidence to the oppo. It is often that we see Hassell or Reid having a right go at him and this cant be right. He is a fantastic shot stopper though.
the first, almost happened in slow motion - shall I, shant I - and then it was too late and Huckerby was too close. Huckerby still had a bit to do but the ball should really have been in the school playground behind the West stand Dave Watson in a televised match in the Premier season (against Coventry I think) got man of the match and played most of it as a sweeper - didnt like coming for crosses though did he
Perfect example of his communication (of lack of) was in first half. Ball across 6 yard box which would roll directly into his hands. Instead Reid rushed infront of him and cleared into West Stand. Straight after Reid was having a right go at Colgan.
RE: I'm not a particular Colgan fan I wouldn't blame him directly for any defenders errors. Overall better communication across the back line (including keeper) would benefit the team.
The goalkeeper can see everything, everyone position etc!!!! A good keeper always talks to his defence
