The Blades turned up for their cup final, we have bigger fish to fry. They're not going up or down and neither are we. In a couple of weeks we'll be 90 minutes from the FA Cup Final. The FA Cup chuffin final!
Agree - possible we will never have this chance again in our lifetimes Sure, it's important we stay up. Sure, it's bloody annoying not to score a single goal against either Wednesday or United this season. Sure it hurts losing at home, but come on!!! FA CUP SEMI FINALISTS for goodness sake!! It's only the older supporters on here who can REALLY grasp what that means. Never mind year after year of mid table drudgery in the old Second Division. Never mind the heartbreak of relegation to the third level and very near extinction(for the second time in my lifetime). Life is pretty good right now and - let me repeat it. We are FA CUP SEMI FINALISTS, and just might get to the final. Unvelievable times, unbelievable achievements. I know we are not there yet but we could be going to Wembley twice this season. The player's have been pre-occupied with it and who can blame them? Wouldn't we all be the same? Things will turn out ok this season, no doubt about that. It would be a shame to lose to Cardiff but hey, that's life. Most of us will never know a season like this again.
Spot On There are loads of Barnsley fans who have been born, lived and died without ever having seen what we are about to see.
Cup Run Is Great But Relegation Would Mean This Season Is A Failure......... even if we win the FA Cup. I'd get knocked out of the cup right now, if it meant we will stay in this league.
although the f.a cup is unbelievable.. and yes we have a chance of winning it im very very concerned about how much effect its taking now we're so close...dont get me wrong i cant blame the players for thinking about wembley if they are or not BUT 3 away league games in a row makes me very worried
It's my age mate Never seen owt like it at Oakwell in 40 years of being a fan. My Dad is 82 and he says the same. Relegation would be a failure I agree but some people are talking as if we are already down.
We're not going down and this season will NOT be a failure Win or lose in the Semi Final we have unrprecedented things to look back on. Ok we beat Man Utd and Spurs in the cup in 1998 but this year we did much more. Winning at Anfield was an incredible achievement but to follow that up by beating Chelsea just takes the breath away. Don't forget we are one league below what we were in 97-98 as well. Relegation would be a bitter blow but, if I am honest, I would take that in exchange for one year of FA Cup glory. The world's media don't come knocking on our door because we finish 20th in the English Second Division. Storm through to the FA Cup Semi Final though and.......well, look what happens. Like I said, we might never get this close again. Then again, we might do it all over again next year
Massive Clearout In The Summer Even If We Stay Up Whatever happens from now until the summer, I can see us bringing in a dozen new players for next season. If anything has been learnt this season, it's that our current squad isn't as good as it's made out to be.
RE: although the f.a cup is unbelievable.. The 3 aways on the trot will focus the minds and we will win one of them. No home game for the players to fall back on, so the attitude will change.
Agreed.
This squad is more than capable of ensuring we don't go down. Ifthere's a chance we would we can rise to the occasion.

RE: We're not going down and this season will NOT be a failure Agreed , I just dont see us getting to the FA Cup Semi Final again with this mix of teams.
I would take the FA Cup over relegation any day of the week.
There will be lots more ups and downs in the league during my lifetime , but to be in the semis of the Cup with a real chance of winning , I very much doubt that it will happen again.

A dozen???? We've got two decent keepers. A decent backline and a good midfield. We probably need another central Midfielder. The problem area is clearly up front but i don't think we need 11 strikers, we've got half dozen already!
RE: Massive Clearout In The Summer Even If We Stay Up Don't hold your breath - SD said we'll see the best of them next season, implying that the majority will still be here.
Well Lets See 1) Paul Reid. 2) Andy Johnson. 3) Miguel Mostto. 4) Kayode Odejayi. 5) Kim Christensen. 6) Rohan Ricketts. 7) Michael Coulson. 8) Daniel Nardiello. Possibly one or two youth players (like Rhys Meynell and Rob Atkinson) and a big money sale such as Brian Howard.
RE: Massive Clearout In The Summer Even If We Stay Up Pure speculation, mostly bench and reserves players and hardly a "massive clear out." With the possible exception of a new striker or two the first team will look much the same as it does this season.
