The fans have to start backing there team. The reason we have the budget we have is due to the stay away fans. I’ve heard numerous examples of why people are not coming through. From the £30 ticket price when more often than not its £23. Why not but the 1912 Membership card then to save some money. Then the same people then say they won’t go to the discounted £10 for example match days as they want to g to every game and not just pick and choose. So why not buy a season ticket if you want to go to every game for a reasonable price, we had offers to pay in instalments. We need the fans support to back the club financially. We need the income and with the crowds at the moment we can’t compete with Oldham or the like with the price we have to pay out for policing etc. For all you stay away fans, get down to Oakwell, lets make an atmosphere and try to push the club into the top 6, Then all we need is a bit of luck and we could be in the money.
You're wasting your time. While there are fans who genuinely can't afford to go to games on a regular basis there are many more who will only bother to turn if we're playing a big team or we've already achieved success. If we went up this season I'm 100% sure that suddenly we'd sell out every single home game and Oakwell would be full of 'fans' who could suddenly find the money, time and effort to go.
Just getting annoyed now with a stay away fan telling me how badly where going to do without Drinkwater and that where doomed. I mean Drinkwater gave the ball away more times than I got lucky with Abbie Clancy, he got around the pitch but more often than not he was too cheap in possession. I’d maybe like to see us go for Ben Marshall from Stoke just to p**s Wednesday off. Now Drinkwater for me isn’t much of a loss as half the time he was garbage and only say him play well maybe 3 times at the most with two of those coming against Leicester. But there players who we need to tie down to contracts to keep improving.
More important things for people at the moment than spending £16-£30 to attend a football match and l can't fault those folk that haven't been going to the games.
I'm afraid football has ceased to be essential mate. When I was a lad it was roughly the same price to go to the pictures as it was to go to a match. Now it's 3 or 4 times that so if people have a spare £10 or £15 to spend on a night out, which are they going to choose? Don't get your reference to Oldham since we've always averaged 2 or 3,000 more than them. Anyway I think 10,000 a game is pretty good compared to similar sized towns like Oldham, Donny, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Bury, Rochdale etc.
