Less than 8000 home fans again yesterday, when the team is giving everything and playing so well, at just £20 for championship football, not saying I turn up expecting the ground to be full, but surely we can muster 10,000 home fans minimum on form like this.

It happened vs Wolves the other Tuesday night, surely we will get a big (HOME) gate on Easter Monday. I'd rather non-season ticket holders come to this game than Sheff Wed, we need the money not away teams!!!

If it carries on the board will think stuff it, back to nearer £30 as the crowds aren't any better!!! Might as well get more money from the same gates!!!

agree with your sentiments Fraser32 : I was TOLD in the pub friday night it was a category A game and £30 to get in.and that was from a armchair/telewatching/saturdayafternoonshooper( no he dont do shopping) ex season ticket holder that just happened to go to the Etihad.
I note several of this "ilk " seem to have gone very quiet on here just recently.

In other words then the club haven't done enough to get the word out that they've reduced prices?

We have had all this out before. It is time the so called supporters stopped making excuses and got down to Oakwell. I do not think it will happen this year. Very dis appointed at crowd total on Saturday

fair/unfair point - dont know where you drink or come from but round this area a hammer and chisel is needed to get through to some. Its far easier to criticise from afar than actually involve and debate with a degree of knowledge.

They've had hard cash off me and the young 'un for Wolves & Brighton, and we'll be at the Leicester, Charlton & Derby games, assuming my shifts don't change. It's working for us, where are the rest of you??

I think 2 home games in a week on top of a trip to Etihad is a bit much for some budgets- but I agree with your point.

The crowds were increasing before the blip, granted we did have Man City coming up. If we can carry this form into next season we will be top of the league and have 13-14,000 every week. Easy-peasey!

Same thing for me the other week,my neighbour who used to go to Oakwell, said 'I can't afford £30 for a football game...I'm a pensioner'.. when I told him he could get in for half that he just said 'well it's not what I've heard'...whether we can change that attitude I'm not sure, but i think the club should look at taking a few ads in the free papers that have much greater circulations than the Chronicle..although it's quite expensive it would be worth suggesting a deal to give the papers away on matchday in return for a discount on the ad.

ticket price reduction has been all over the forums since it came into effect, its also on the back page of the chronicle every week.Been mentioned on radio sheffield.Everyone at oakwell on a matchday knows the prices....club cant do much more really...Which goes to show that her who works in the box office was right when she said reducing ticket prices doesnt make any difference, and that was to me,not somebodys mate or somebody in the pub.

Stop making excuses for the stayaway fans ST. If they wanted to come it's not difficult to find out how much it is to get in. The club have done their bit, the manager and team are doing their bit but still our stayaway army make excuses not to come.

Personally I think that shows everything that is wrong with the club on ticketing. It's as if they're willing it to fail. I distinctly remember one game under Shepherds reign when fans called for a reduced price and the club seemingly did everything in its power to ensure that nobody knew about it. Funnily enough, nobody extra came to the game.

Some fans use pricing as an excuse, they do that at every club in the country. But there are lots of fans out there who can't afford the headline prices, find the pricing too complicated or simply don't realise that prices have been reduced and yes the box office lady is correct, for a one off game with little promotion there isn't much increase but have a sustained campaign of low prices with easy to understand pricing bands and a decent advertising campaign and I am certain it would see an increase.

The last game that we actively marketed a price reduction was Blackpool, thousands extra turned up.

Currently tickets cost apparently £20 but I am still not entirely sure how you go about getting in for that price. I know you have to be a member and have to buy your ticket in advance but how do I become a member? Not entirely sure. Scrap the membership, charge £20 across the board. Cut out some of the unnecessary price bands and keep the same prices for a full season. The club might claim it doesn't work but they've never actually tried it.

It's not about making excuses. BFC is a business and if customers aren't turning up then that's the problem of the business not the none customer

I think some of the reason people aren't turning up are:

    1. FA Cup and two home games in a week costs a fair bit
    2. Don't know what the prices are and so just assume they're high off past experience
    3. Seen the City match and didn't like what they saw
    4. We had a mini blip and are only just recovering
    5. We're just outside the relegation zone and for large parts of the season saw drab football
    6. You get in the habit of not going and Saturday is no longer seen as 'match day'

There's not much the club can do about any of that though. They've already reduced ticket prices. I think they've adequately advertised the price reduction, it's been all over social media, I think it's just a case of people burying their head in the sand. Their 'go to' excuse was that the prices were too high but when in reality they had no intention of coming anyway.
The team is not only playing more exciting football, but showing passion and winning games. If you don't turn up now, then when would you.

But if we can keep this run up until the end of the season then hopefully we'll sell a few more season tickets for next season. People have to come once they've bought one of those :p

I live 200 miles from Oakwell and the remit of local media and I know exactly how much my football ticket will cost and how to go about purchasing it. I have a membership card and a twenty pound note and all I have to do is rock up to the box office at half past two and politely say "one adult for the Upper West Stand please missis!"

I find it to be one of life's more minor complications and anyone who says the club doesn't do enough is a bollack-brain. :)

The clubs own website says that rocking up at half past two will cost you £23 whether you've got a membership card or not. Perhaps it is this false information on the website that is putting some off?

What I'd say to those fans

Who, for whatever reason, have stopped going down to Oakwell.
Provided you can afford the cost and spare the time, pop down and see for yourself. I'm sure you'll enjoy what you see. The atmosphere is top notch, every player who pulls on the red shirt gives 100% for the team from the first whistle to the last, we play attractive football & we usually win.

I think my membership letter said that 2 o'clock was the limit. I got there at 10 past for the Bolton game having driven up from Northants via York to pick my Dad up and there were signs up in the box office saying that they weren't dealing with match day tickets, only cup tickets, so I ended up paying £23 at the turnstile anyway. It's a **** scheme and the sooner we're rid of it the better.
