Was there any need for Ritchie to talk Yeovil up they way he did before the game? after all they are way down the league, anybody would think we were playing Barcelona, the last 2 games we have played took its toll on Saturday coupled with no Devaney,I did say last week that he should have brought players off earlier in the Scunny game, 3 goals to the good with about 20 minutes left you are then looking ahead to Tuesday nights replay, big thumbs up to the team though for putting on some great entertaining games recently, lets hope the gates improve a bit over Christmas and we have a good cup run,the team looks fantastic going forward now with Hayes Shuker and Devaney looking as if they could score at will, its great to watch, for me now the only part of the team that needs looking at is the centre back position Reid is good enough,Kay is not good enough as centre back or midfield,he looks very dodgy to me,his concentration is poor,he is slow to react at times, that and his row Z clearances make him the weakness in our defence,Carbon is injury prone and buckles when the pressure is really on however he has had some good games this season(when the pressure isnt really on) so he is ahead of Kay for me,could Hassell play alongside Reid with Tonge and Austin filling the full back positions? the club let a decent centre back go when they unloaded Gary Monk who was being unfairly judged as a full back, the rest of Barnsleys team are all good enough to take us up out of this very ordinary division(you could be over critical and say Is Richards good enough long term?)but their all playing their part and doing well and heres to a great second half of the season, get yersens darn to Oakwell.COME ON YOU REDS.
Sentence structure and Paragraphs are theys still taught in schools these days just wondering as posts are a bit easier to read when the whole thing is put into one solid chunk it was hard work reading what was otherwise an interesting football post dont think I agree with all of it but valid opinons Kay is OK at centre back but not as good as Carbon or Hassell our biggest problem at the moment is left back imho as Aussie's positional sense when playing there is poor and robbie is too slow we have 3 people who can do a decent job at rightback
I guess that's why Ritchie wants Dean Gordon For the record I think Kay has been excellent at centre half recently. Does he just crack it up field sometimes? Yes, he does. But when he used to play about with it at the back the same people got on at him for doing that. Doesn't matter what he does, he just can't please them, but the opposition can't score if the ball is up the other end of the pitch.
Yes, but ... ... when Carbon came on - Kay went into midfield. So ... Kay can allegedly play in the middle of the park, where it's a bit obvious that you need to be able to pass the ball. So, to summarise, Kay must be a ball playing centre half? The answer is 'no'. I agree that he's done well lately - but the lad can't pass a ball to save his life. I must state, for the 381st time, that the worst central midfield partnership I've seen in years was Kay & Wroe. And don't get me started on Austin's 'performance'. Football really is ****.
Kind of in between. Basically stood between the midfield & their centre halves playing ball/knee pinball with himself. He lost it more times than my Uncle Arthur, who has a severe case of Parkinsons. He's a lumper. He should be our 3rd choice centre half & not risked anywhere else. Apart from that - he's great.
Mmm. He had those wellies on with 'L' & 'R' on the wrong feet. 'fecking LEFT back Austin, LEFT back' 'What the **** is he doing over there again?' 'Oooh look - their right winger in 30 yards of space, again' Dean Gordon? I'd accept Dean Martin or Flash Gordon at left back rather than Stig of the dump. Apart from that - he's pretty good.
"the lad can't pass a ball to save his life" What utter ****. Just watched the highlights. Our goal started with a free kick in our half. It was taken quickly and delivered 50 yards over the top straight on to Shuker's toe end. And who took the free kick? Can you guess? Go on, have a guess. It rhymes with 'Ponty is gay'.
So ... ... he basically lumped it 50 yards & got lucky? 5 yards, Jay, 5 yards. He can't pass a ball 5 yards. And when the ball is played to him it takes him 3 minutes to control it ... it's like a wet fish trying to handle a bar of soap. Does a decent job at centre half. Liability anywhere else. You may love him, but you need to look past your homosensual fixation & watch him play football.
RE: Left Back? Nah he was playing Right hand Centre Half wasnt he The number of times he was on the right hand side of Reid, instead of the left hand side of Kay, was ridiculous. As I've said - I think we have a decent side - but while ever we rely on Austin at left back we will ship goals when he has his off days ... which are usually every Saturday. I liked the look of Reid & Hassell together. And Hayes looks like he's going to be a player. Football is still **** though.
Never rated Austin much And I obviously didn't go to Yeovil, but last couple of times I've seen him he's been excellent at left back. Best I've seen him play. Dunno what that means. Maybe Aussie turns it on when he sees me in the crowd to try and drag my attention away from Kay. He's got no chance the chuckle brother faced goon.
Tell you what. When he has a bad game - he has a real stinker. I think I know what the problem was. He was taking a dump before the game - with Anderson Richtea in the next cubicle. Anderson ran out of Andrex ... so asked Neil if he had any 'free roll'? Austin wanders out thinking he can wander all over the pitch. I know that's '****' - but it's the best I can do.
