It's the easy way out to talk of the club getting rid/he'll never make it etc.
Chris Morgan looked the same until Basset got hold of him. He developed brilliantly under Basset, and when Basset left it was painfully obvious how much Mogs suffered - until he went to play under warnock, where again, he's established himself in dem Blades squad at premiership level.
If Kay goes and then gets with a club with a manager who'll work with him and develop him, we'll have lost a quality centre half. Still, he's had a drink so string him up.

Agreed if the manager was to give him a good strict telling to then im sure that somebody as talented as kay will develop into a better player here in barnsley. I personally believe that we need to keep hold of him.
It was written about slaves that if you treated them with a modicum of kindness and understanding you got more from them. Well bugger me!!!! That simple fact applies to each & every one of us, Ant included. Maybe a little kindness & understanding of someone who may have a problem might just get the best from them. In other words 'You catch more flies wi sugar than wi vinegar' as my mother allus says
"give him a good strict telling".... so we are assuming then that he was never told, especially when the statement said "repeatedly breached".... Wish people would drop this now, its clear he broke rules, then it was leaked, so the club responded, end of. now what would everyone be saying if the club said nowt..... exactly Dammed if you Dammed if you don't.
RE: "give him a good strict telling".... Aye, the club responded, and it's developed from Kay breaking a ( totally necessary at the time imho ) booze ban, intopeople calling him a full time drinker and we should get shut.

Management isn't just about telling people to do stuff.

so ask them to respond to every question or comment on here then.... like i said, no matter what the club does, they will be slated for doing so, and slated if they don't. just let the club get on with it
Eh ? Personally I don't think they have to respond to every little thing that's said elsewhere. They seem to feel they have to though.
It's not me that's extrapolated Kay's disciplinary problems into him being an alcoholic.

sorry mate it wasn't aimed at you, it was in general... I meant to keep it in line with the "dammed if you do/don't" thing... in other words, when it was "leaked", if the club didn't say anything they would have been slated, but this time they did, and was probably more in responce to the paper article. which of course then people will speculate etc etc. Then all of a sudden he is more or less an alcoholic. Best management style in hand can't seriously stop anyone/everyone speculating any anything and everything, but some of our fans seem to want answers to everything, but in all honesty, if they took the time to do that, then they wouldn't be running the club, cos all they would be doing is answering all these questions... hope that one sounds a bit more english (seestars)
RE: Can't help thinking that.... a disciplinary policy only becomes this public etc if the employee has already received warnings and has been set targets to improve. I don't think this will be a knee-jerk reaction and Kay must have let the management down on previous occasions for it to get this far. On the one hand it is a great pity, as Kay is Barnsley through and through and has excellent prospects and has put in some sterling performances over the years. On the other hand, remember how we moaned about the drinking culture in the days of Lumsdon and how it undermined the quality of performance on the pitch. The concensus was that it needed strong management to sort it out. I think that, provided he had had previous warnings, this is strong management. He still has enough time to learn his lesson, but it looks as though it may be at another club, in which case - honest of the Reds to state the issue.
Ah. lol I see what you're saying, and agree in the main. Were it me in charge at BFC ( lol ) then it'd be club policy to not comment on speculation from other unofficial sources. I would also deal with all disciplinary matters in house. I'd also not read this site !!!
And anyone found leaking stories to the press would be fined a months wages.
