He enjoyed the game and was pleasantly surprised with standard of the football played by the reds. He said he knew to expect the sleek, fast passing game of Blackpool, but wasn't expecting us to more than match them at times. He said we seem to want that extra pass when there's no need and subsequently got caught in possession or missed an opportunity to put someone through on goal. Also said we should've had 2 pens. We looked nervous late on needlessly gave the ball away cheaply putting extra pressure on ourselves. His main criticism came for the PA system, far too loud, made even worse and funnier when the brass band tried to compete with it at half time (what an embarasment that was) He hasn't been a regular since the early 80s and hasn't attended just for the big games either. Don't think if he'll attend again as he firmly believes that its far too expensive. Shame really as i feel he really enjoyed it.
My youngest daughter ..... who tells her school pals that she is a Wednesday fan, has asked if she can go again... That would be three times this season. I keep telling her that they don't normally have all the entertainment, but she's decided she's now a Barnsley fan. Good work Don.... I didn't expect that to happen.
He's typically one of the lads in the pub who doesn't go to games but always wants us to do well. He's not a Sky viewer either as he believes they are largely to blame as to what is wrong in football, but thats another discussion for another time.
The PA system seemed particularly painful today and I completely agree about the brass band I couldnt hear them at all from the west stand - I have a dB meter on my phone - cant vouch for its accuracy but I recorded 97dB whensome of the the "music" was belting out - way above safe levels - 87dB is the absolute maximum that is allowed for an employee in a workplace even for a short time without hearing protection
Me too. It was painful to listen to and being so loud you could hardly understand what was being said.
