We could have an endless conversation on the merits of Adam Davies as a goalkeeper, but one thing he was exceptionally good at was communicating with those in front of him. Something I feel is sadly lacking in Radlinger and to a lesser extent in Collins. The naivety and inexperience of our young players, and defenders in particular, has resulted in numerous schoolboy mistakes which has lead to us losing games. On many occasions Anderson has been guilty of ball watching causing him to be drawn out of position. An experienced keeper sees the whole of the pitch and should be screaming at his defenders as to where the danger is. My worry lies more with the goalkeeping coach than with both young goalkeepers as I am confident that both will get better. That said I also have an issue with Radlinger's ability to deal with crosses.
I think communication is improving defensively and Radwinter is more vocal than Collins was. Davies being captain was presumably dup to his communication skills. Incidentally when I watched the U23s Walton was shouting nearly all the match!
If you've watched the academy kids, they're brought up to continuously shout to all outfield players.
