Anybody know what Direct X is. PC has it on and is updated, but game won't start, instead it gives the message "there was an error starting Direct X"

    Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

Anybody know what to do next?

    Graphics card drivers maybe?

If it's the correct version of Direct X usually problems like that are due to outdated drivers - try updating the ones for your video-card...

    Direct X

Have you got the latest version of Direct X? If so try drivers for video/sound

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx

It's basically software that allows games writers to write to link to direct X on your machine, whilst direct X then links to things such as video drivers, sound cards etc....it means that the game does not have to be coded to recognise every possible combination of hardware/software that people might have....it's an interface
