A friend been having problems today trying to install additional memory into her IBM Pentium 6276 55G. It uses DIMM memory so they don't have to be paired. Checked online and seems to be a max of 512Mb for the motherboard, it had 64Mb in, she was trying to add 256Mb in, with both it was just beeping and wouldn't boot, took the old memory out and put new in and that didn't work, took the 258Mb back to PC World (yes I know!) and swapped for 128Mb and that didn't work either - she tells me that detail on the chips as to the type of memory, pins etc is same as it was for the original memory which she now as PC running with again. I'm thinking just incompatible memory - anyone else with any ideas?
Could be incompatable I would suggest you go to crucial memory website - think it's crucial.com - could be wrong - and find the brand of computer they will give you the right type you can order. Hope this is useful
RE: Different BUS speed? Hmmm dunno - I'll email her to check. Said that details on the chips were same....she tried the site mentioned and that suggested what she got. Probably PC World with duff memory!
