Sound on computer completely gone. Speakers are connected, and volume is up. No mute on. No idea what to check next. (dunno)
Funny you should say that The toaster has gone in the bin. I suspect it has "fused", but it has one of those plugs that you can't open up. The vacuum cleaner is in the skip because we can't get the parts to replace. Flippin expensive business! :'(
Check control panel....is anything flagging up on there? Have you recently installed any software? Try reinstalling drivers for your soundcard. If that doesn't work - are you sure it's not your ears that have stopped working?
If mute isn't on on your master volume controls, ensure you haven't muted your media player. I've seen media programs, especially media player's mute override the windows mute option.
Sound Card Test As with all high tech products it is important to test them to make sure they are working properly. You can test your sound card with this http://www.zshare.net/audio/10940807e7f743ce/ Good luck.
