I am getting a new computer and have been offered either an AMD SEMPRON 3000+ or an Intel Celeron 2.6GHz processor.

    Which should i go with?

    Any ideas?

The Athlon runs at 1.8 Ghz the numbers after the name are a branding type not an actual reflection of the speed. i have built two this week with that processor in and they are fine, the Intel should be faster but there's so many variables including the ammount of RAM, HD size etc,
I have a personal preference for Intel but i am gaining respect for Athlon

The AMD comes with 1GHz of DDR Ram and a 200 GB HD (an 80 and a 120)

The Intel comes with the same Ram and a 120GB HD

AMD is just fine. I have built many PC's with Athlons Durons and Semprons. No real difference between the two.
