I want to reinstall Windows XP on my computer cos i have quite a few explorer errors that keep rearing their ugly head. I've got the disks to do this.

    The question is......

Will my second hard drive that is full of stuff that i want to keep still be readable if i reinstall XP onto C???

    Or will it not work?

    Thanks in advance

Your second hard disk should be fine

Providing you don't **** up during installation and format it.

It it on a different physical drive or just a partition of one in the computer you also want to put Windows on?

If it's physically seperate then yes, it'll be untouched, but if it's a partition you'd have to be really careful you don't click one next too many.

It's a completely separate drive, not a partition. I do have my C drive partitiioned but am not worried about D gettin wiped. I really dont want to lose the stuff on my separate drive, there's a lot of work i need on there.

Thanks gentlemen, here's to a nice and quick reinstall (should take about 4 hours if lucky)

One question: How do i reinstall Windows having never done it before????

XP should boot from the CD when you reset it.

I have a seperate USB drive for my laptop and two partitions on the internal drive, my advice would be to physically remove the cable for the external drive from the computer as you do the format if you can, just in case.
