Although it's been a LONG time since I posted on here, I had to congratulate everyone associated with the club including the fans. I now live in the U.S. and miss Barnsley so much. Been a fan since 1977 and many seasons as a season ticket holder. I haven't come across a team with this much passion and togetherness for some years now and looks like you fans are appreciating the new management team. I know it was hard to get behind Hill, he was just inept and now he is back where he belongs. I get to listen to most weekend games but miss midweek ones because of work but always keep in touch with some great friends on Facebook. Oh and the reason they call it soccer over here is because it's nowhere near as good as football, I have seen enough in 1 year to know I don't want to watch any more. Come On You Reds
It's brilliant to be able to enjoy Saturday nights again Dave isn't it mate? I can't believe the turn around since christmas
It is, Saturday win lose or draw I always wear my Barnsley shirt. Only Barnsley fan in Colorado I reckon lol.
Do you get radio dee dar over there its gonna be so much fun listening this week Can't wait for work on Monday I'll be kicking doors down t get in I'll be that early
Yes we do, it's always fun listening to the fans of opposing teams. People over here just don't get what football means to people in U.K. I have stickers, badges licence plates and everything else.
Obviously the Brits do but thats it really. I do watch the Premier League in local Brit bars and have some great American friends that now know who we are. People always ask where abouts I am from, they always ask is it near London, I say yes just about 7 hours drive away. I do have to talk with a "better" English accent as nobody understands a word I say
Yeah sorry I meant Americans, I just wondered if they had heard of us, do they see you as the local baddie tho? Lol
Some of the local have, some Liverpool, Man City and United but other than that no. While ever I wear my shirt, people will find out how big a club we are lol. Me a baddie, not likely mate. It is always great catching up with some of the locals here though, I don't say what position we are in, just say we have only lost a couple of times this year, they seem to think Barnsley will be in the P.L. next season. You thought Manure fans were bad in England (Fans not coming from Manchester I mean) they are all over here, but like I said before the soccer here is garbage so they have to watch proper football lol.
Hey Dave, I remember you (as Tykethat) from the old BBS. You used to post there regularly, so you must have moved to the USA quite recently? Since you're on Facebook, you may want to join this page for "Barnsley FC North American supporters club" : http://www.facebook.com/BFC2013
Hey Tomi, I moved 2 years ago to Colorado, wished I had the chance to do it when I was younger. The only thing I really miss is the football but I listen to most games and have seen them on tv over here a few times. I have just liked the page too, I also made a Facebook page last season but couldn't be bothered with updating it with the poor results late last year, it is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barnsley-Supporters-In-America/180300645362699?fref=ts I just had problems logging into the new site with my former username and password so now just use my Facebook name.
I did post often, not stupid amounts though, only when I had something to say Almost 2 years I think when I last posted by my former name, how time flies.
I post stupid amounts in both senses. I am considering a tour of the U.S. to visit exiled Barnsley fans. Will the BBS sponsor me?
That's okay, I'll be staying at your house for a week you've done enough. Are you anywhere near South Park?
We are about an hours drive away from South Park, I went last year with my American family. Not much there though. The hospital is always busy though trying to save Kenny's life
