A few comments from Connor."Felt good to be kitted out in the Barnsley kit.A good 45mins and a win.Looking forward to Tuesday night." "Over the moon to finally seal the deal". That doesn't sound like a player who didn't want to be here.
What's he going to say, though? "I'm suicidal that the best I could do was the Dingles. "It's rubbish here. There are too many weeds round the pitch, and I ain't going to try a ******* leg."
All he's done is say I'm worth more then what you're offering, and I'm not being tied to a contract that I believe isn't what I'm worth, so him and the club have come to an agreement where he comes on loan proves he's worth what he's says he is. If he does we'll pay him what he wants, if he doesn't he'll have to accept what we think he's worth at that time, or go to another club, I can't see what the problem his, he wouldn't have come here if he didn't want to, he'll want be here but the club, and him and his agent, don't agree on what he's worth so a loan deal was best for both parties
I think people are harsh to look for fault with him. If he didn't want to sign he wouldn't have, we couldn't match the four years security that his current contact gives him.
we'll soon find out if he's any good or not. i suspect there's already an orderly queue of boo boys forming though, if he hasn't scored 10 goals by christmas
I remember Darren Barnard doing the same and that's when we were a Premier League club. He initially turned us down & signed another contract with Bristol City, before changing his mind in the week leading up to the West Ham game.
I'm not out to have a go at the lad. I wouldn't sign for us for less money on a shorter contract either. But there's no escaping the fact that he turned us down and he hasn't changed his mind. He's a Bolton player not a Barnsley player. If he does well for us, Bolton will make a profit when he signs for a different club that meet his wage demands.
I didn't say you were, old mate. But he HAS signed for us, initially on loan. He's not wanted by Bolton seeing as they accepted our bid of £75,000. If he enjoys his spell with us, he may well change his mind and decide to make his stay longer. As I'm not Mystic Meg, I have no idea whether we'll make the deal a permanent one in January. I don't know that we won't either. There's no doubt in my mind, though, that some have already got their boo boy lined up for next season with this lad.
I've no doubt there are numerous examples of this. Connor Wilkinson isn't one though. He turned us down and hasn't changed his mind. He still hasn't signed for us, he's still a Bolton player. If he signs for us permanently in January he will have changed his mind, but right now he hasn't. Signing for a team on loan after rejecting the offer of a permanent contract is not committing yourself to that club.
We don't actually know anything more than he's here while January at least.... Have we got an agreement to buy for the fee accepted for him in January if it suits both us and the player? We know his temperament has been questioned a few times so are we just getting him in to see how he goes while the next transfer window with a view to a permanent deal? Probably not but people coming up with their own conclusions to why we haven't got him full time and making a decision about him before he's kicked a ball is a bit premature. He's a young lad being advised by an agent no doubt and I'm not going to hold it against him I'll wait and see how he plays on a Saturday afternoon...
You'll have to point out to me where I've judged him or made my mind up about him or what I'm holding against him. I'm just pointing out that we tried to buy him, Bolton agreed the fee, he turned down our contract offer.
