My fiance doesn't support Barnsley and although he is willing to go with me if I really want him to (which he has before), it becomes quite expensive if I'm spending £46 compared to just £23. (I know I should have become a member but I kept thinking that I probably wouldn't go to another this season due to lack of funds and paying for a wedding, but then I keep changing my mind). I could just listen to it on Barnsley Player of course but that's not the same. I'm not sure whether to just spring the extra money, listen to it for free or go it alone.
I go to a few away games on my own when my mates cant make it for one reason or another. Doesnt bother me tho as i always nearly bump into someone I know. We're all friends at BFC anyway so nowt to worry about. Get ya sen off
Haha, point taken but he's not from Barnsley. We met at uni and he's from Cumbria so I can't really blame him for not being a through and through Barnsley fan.
I only manage away games with living in Essex and 99% of the time go alone - not strange but a better alternative to not going. Usually end up chatting to one of the regular away lot anyway
If you want someone to talk to,my lad and I sit in the Ponty, there are a few spare seats at the side of us
I'm trying my best to convert him but he's being stubborn - the truth is he's just not that into football. We have won every game I've took him to though so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Nah, get your sen off to the match...especially if you sit in the same-ish place at Oakwell or go to the aways, as you see the same faces and can get chatting
Not weird at all, I often go on my own if there's no one I know going. Means you get to actually watch the game as well rather than chatting to your mate (or fiance in your case).
I go to pretty much all the home games on my own, lad who I go with sometimes has work. Lost contact with everyone else while at Uni. Dad sits in East Stand but my heart lies with the Ponty, so I go in there on misen. Nowt wrong wi it!
Missed matches because i did not want to go on my own, missed matches because i thought i could not afford it. missed beating Huddersfield 7-1 on financial reasons then missed matches when i could afford due to work commitments. missed memories to colour my life that watching on TV did not give me a full picture of the feel of being there. THEN actually saved money by buying a season ticket even when work commitments did not allow visits to oakwell. saved for the season ticket by opening a savings account and depositing some money direct debit so i would not touch it every month . made new friends at twell that i would not have met otherwise, may only see them at BFC ,but people from different walks of life.
