Sorry another non footie post.I bought a new Tv from Currys in mid June and it broke just over a month ago. When I returned it to the store they told me it would be sent off for repair and they would ring me when fixed.I asked how long would it take and they said anything up to 30 days.I called into Currys on Tuesday as I was passing and the tv was still at the repairers but it should be fixed by the end of the week.Today is the 32 second day without a tv and again no phone call from Currys. What are my rights as a consumer on this matter.

Your coverage comes under the consumer rights act 2015.. The retailer has opted for repair which is fine, and the wording of the act is then down to, they are allowed a reasonable amount of time to make the repair. So it's proving that this delay is now unreasonable.

Personally, I would visit the store, advise them that 30 days would have been what you consider to be the 'reasonable period', give them 3 to 5 days longer as a goodwill gesture. If they fail to make good on that then demand a replacement product.

Couldn't it also be argued that a television which fails after only 3 months is not of merchantable quality and a replacement or refund demanded?

Consumer rights act states that you have to give the retailer one chance to either repair or replace the goods. You as consumer have the choice

My reading is that the consumer has the choice for a replacement
