Is it correct that Mads Anderson and Brad Collins expire next summer? Can't see the club willing to pay these two more money to resign a new contract if that is true. I do feat the club may sell in January if the any decent offer comes along.
Tis always thus. Walton, Williams, Thomas and several others also out of contract at the end of the season.
Option on both Collins and Mads for another year: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48726202 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48699616
The January window will certainly be a test of our board's ambition. We do not have many players of significant value so I think it will be down to whether Andersen is still on our payroll in February. I can't see Millwall forking out a seven figure sum for a bench warmer.
When you consider the trajectory of Adam Davies since leaving us, I don't think that the options with another club are much good for a keeper and they risk just warming the bench for all but cup ties, as Walton is doing now for us. Brad has stayed loyal and there seems to have been zero transfer interest in him, so I would be persuading him to sign a contract extension. I don't see an attractive onwards move for him. A League One club is unlikely and, were he to move any higher, he would be unlikely, as a keeper, to benefit from a rotation system, other than with cup ties. The only way he might leave would be on a free transfer if his contract were to expire in 2024 (by the sound of it). Mads has also been one hundred per cent loyal and seems to have the club in his blood, especially since being named captain. He definitely could play now at a higher level, having improved hugely over the seasons we have had him, but I would be looking for a good fee and, if we were to be promoted before his contract expires, I think that he might well stay on. I think that, otherwise, there could well be interest from Championship club in Mads, but we'll see. Another Blackburn-type signing like Brittain? With any decent prospects here, I reckon he'll stay with us.
