To be fair it's not really been recognised that we've got a player in our Academy that could go on & do something. He holds the record for the youngest ever player at first team and a lot of Barnsley fans have basically dismissed it.

Yes, there may have been a few reasons to do it (compo, Davey) but I seem to recall they asked for him to play in the League cup but were refused permission. That wasn't to save Davey's head, was it?

I can see why people would calculate that he was played as a "smoke screen". Perhaps if we had more chance to see the lad "live" as it were instead of persisting with our own and other clubs no marks there might be a little more appreciation.

I dont think anyone has just dismissed it. Davey picks the team and has decided that he isn't ready yet. Does Davey think we have a world-beater here who will get us 20+ goals a season but I'm not playing him becuase those nasty fans think it was all a smoke screen? I dont think so. Even Davey wouldnt do this, would he (dunno)
