Right folks, I've downloaded some FLV files from youtube, and I want to convert them into a format that will let me play them on both a Sony Ericsson p990i and a Nokia smartphone - what's the easiest way? Ta in adv.

Do you have any idea what video formats those phones can play?

Easiest way is to use the Mobile option on vixy.net

If you need more control over quality, filesize, resolution etc Avidemux (or Super) are good free programs for converting videos for phone use.
I have no idea what video and audio codecs the two phones in question support.
If you have a high quality video that plays on both phones, download it to your PC, open it in Avidemux and do "Properties" from the file menu to see which codecs it uses. I can then give you a quick how-to for encoding it in Avidemux.

Super, IIRC is very easy but isn't available for Linux so I can't use it at the mo. So you're on your own with that one.
