OFFICIAL STATEMENT APPROVED AND WRITTEN BY PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO READ BELOW

"We represent a viable alternative to the current ownership model of Barnsley Football Club. We have funding in place and are capable of undertaking the transaction to buy the Club. Clearly this is all subject to future negotiation with the current owners and will be heavily influenced by the value the current owners ascribe to the club.

At the current stage we wish to retain our anonymity.

For clarity we did not encourage or advocate the creation of the Facebook group, this was done independently as a sign of the mounting frustration and lack of direct action. This action has not been arranged or coerced by us, this remains the actions of devoted life long fans of the club who want to protest at the plight of the Club under the current owners.

It should be noted that we do not believe that this is a knee-jerk reaction to results on the field but represents the culmination of over four years of mis-management where success on the field became a secondary consideration.

As is the case with most transactions of this nature no details will be disclosed until the completion of the transaction. We do not want to prejudice the deal taking place. Equally fans need to understand that these things take time especially when agreeing the potential sale price. However, on completion we will offer full transparency with the fans on our motives for owning the club and our future intentions.

Supporters of the club should take some comfort in that there is a viable bidder to take this club forward and restore the pride of the fans and the town.

I want PMG out as much as the next fan but you have to offer concrete plans.

It provides **** all clarity, they've talked about mismanagement and how **** these owners are (I think we can all agree on that) but still give very few details. I'm sceptical...

 

This won’t go away this. There’s definitely summet in it. Don’t think the fella leading it would put it all his time, effort and reputation on the line for it all. I’m sceptical but there’s definitely summet in it.

 

I find it strange that a prospective purchaser would actively attack the current owners.

It just does sound right and for an official statement you'd think it would have been drafted up by someone who would know how to write an official statement. Things like NO in inverted commas, "till" instead of until. "We wish to retain our anonymity" but then they put out a shonky official statement. "We do not want to prejudice the deal taking place" yet that's exactly what they have done with this statement.

I've no doubt that Luke fella believes this is true, but I'm afraid that some unscrupulous people are possibly having his pants down.

 

Bit of a nothing statement really, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see where they go with it.

The above bit I picked out is in contradiction to what Martin Nettleton said, when he claimed they had been asked to set the page up.
That said it’s fair to say the page have distanced themself from that individual.

The way it reads could suggest talks have begun, maybe just way written or how I’ve read it.

 

Its all well and good in theory saying they want to buy but do PMG want to even sell?

Would it be too much of a stretch to presume it was the same group who were in talks with Patrick to buy the club ,but he chose the other consortium

 

How can you claim to be viable and have the necessary funding in place without knowing the asking price?

I'm also viable and have funding in place to take over the club. So long as the asking price is three pound 60.

If someone actually wants to buy the club, doing so through the vehicle of a 'Conway out' Facebook page may be the dumbest move possible.

It's essentially saying 'Conway you're a lovely person, now let's sit down and negotiate'.
