Anyone else sick to the back teeth of that word(Coronation) already I've just seen a woman on BBC news saying the Nation will celebrate.Err no actually,I think I've seen one house with bunting on it in the last few days in and around Barnsley.
Struggling to get angry about it. People can enjoy it if they want to, or completely ignore it if they want to. And whatever choice they make, we all get an extra day off work. Seems a pretty fűcking great deal to me.
We haven’t had one for a few years. They’re bound to be excited. Let those that want to enjoy it, I’m sure they’ll be other activities for those that don’t want to participate. I personally will probably be on the golf course but I’m not offended by the celebration. I think it’s brilliant when communities come together, even if it’s for something we all don’t agree on. How divided the country has been for the last 5 or so years it’ll be nice to see folks of all backgrounds getting together and having a good time Saturday.
I'm pleased for those that enjoy all that gubbins - I hope they have a cracking day - but it's not for me. I'll be taking the dog for a long walk somewhere, bit of a pack-up and a flask, and some music & podcasts in mi lugholes. I thought I'd lucked out a few weeks back when I got offered work on the 6th - getting paid for not watching it! Sadly that fell through.... I shall watch the important bit on the news on setdi night - it's history, innit? - but that's it for me. Anyway, there'll be another one along in 20 years or so, in case I change my opinion
Tbf I can't say i've seen too much about it. I was expecting a lot more. I won't be anywhere near any kind of celebrations on Saturday, so the whole thing will just pass me by.
My other half will be watching it on TV so I'll be out all day on my bike or pottering about in the garage or summat or anything, in fact I'd even rather do 6 hours of fecking ironing.
Whether you choose to enjoy it or ignore it, you'll still be paying for it. This is what really boils my blood, we "can't afford" to pay NHS workers a decent wage but we can spaff £250 million on a BILLIONAIRE's coronation.
I'm sure those who can't stand the royal family will be working on Monday so not to be hypocritical for accepting a coronation bank holiday
Seen plenty of Union Jacks and bunting in Royston, Mapplewell and Staincross. Doesn't interest me. Don't agree with the cost. I'm sure those who enjoy that kind of thing will enjoy it but I find it morally repulsive to spend millions on a glorified fancy dress parade when we're in a cost of living crisis. Each to their own.
My Wife says to me 'There's no point getting worked up about it cos it's still going to happen' I'll go for a walk then.
Nonsense argument that gets trotted out every time. It's a statutory holiday. But if I'm paying for it - which I am - then I'm as entitled as every flag waving Royalist, to have the day off.
I pay taxes and VAT but paying same as I have always paid. If it wasn’t happening would I pay less ? Nothings changed for me
Nothings changed for me either but we’re both ‘ chipping in’ just that you said you couldn’t remember chipping in. Edit: It’s all coming out of the same pot ( Treasury)
