The number of times I have heard this topic discussed by 'football experts' and the number of times the accusation has been laughed off.... and dismissed as only happening in countries such as Italy. Well folks, the sad events of this weekend have surely dismissed that myth. eg

    1. West Ham have clearly broken the rules in the same way a number of other clubs lower down the league pyramid, such as Scarbro, have done in the past. They shoud have been deduced 10 points and thus relegated. Instead, the Prem League fine them 5million. Yeah, that will really hurt them and if they do go down means they will only effectively get 25million parachute money instead of the 30m - my heart really does bleed for you hammers.

Of course, one rule for a small insignificant club the Prawn Sandwich brigade won't even know exist and another rule for a big London Prem Club. Stinks to high hell does it not?

Agree entirely. How many clubs from the Ryman, Nationwide etc. have been deducted points. It is an absolute disgrace.

    I agree

I really really want West Ham to be relegated this season - the only just outcome. Unfortunately I fear either Wigan or Fullham will take the last relegation spot - hope not though

    Disagree

To impose a points deduction toward the end of the season for an offence that takes place at the beginning is wrong, a club must at least be given an opportunity to try to recover those points on the field rather than imposing a points deduction that immediately relegates them.
It was said prior to the weekend that the Tevez issue could be resolved by him being loaned out to another club (he ended up playing for West Ham, not sure how that was resolved), I fail to see how you can have a player whose registration is not in order and it's then ok for him to be loaned out - apparently this is what happened with Mascherano.

    RE: Disagree

I can't agree with you there. West ham have had all season to pick up as many points as they can, they've had the same opportunity regardless of whether or not a points deduction was imposed today, last month or 6 months ago.

The FA and Football League are a farce. The treat different teams differently, speed up processes for certain clubs and make them drag out for others and if that isn't bad enough, they deal with the same offence differently between the organisations.

"they deal with the same offence differently between the organisations"

That will be because they are different organisations with different rules!

Have a feeling that this is going to drag into the summer

If West Ham don't go down, the club that does (Wigan, Fulham) will definitely take the FA to court. The FA dropped the ball big time - why did it take them 8 months to decide on this when there have been rumours about these transfers since Day 1

Looking at the remaining fixtures I reckon Fulham will go down with Charlton and Watford

Yes but in order to be fair to everyone they should get together and create one set of rules.

If for example howard got sent off in the FA cup then it would be presumably dealt with by the FA? But any decision taken would affect him in the football league. Also I think that it's wrong that if a cardiff player gets sent off then it is dealt with by the welsh FA despite it not being in a welsh league.

    Don't forget that.....

The F.A signed the transfers and made the players available for West Ham. They should have said no.

Im surprised the Hammers haveallowed the proceedings, let alone the fine.
