For a few years people have been predicting the collapse of football.

Falling gates, high prices, overpaid squads, withdrawal of revenue, rising operational costs.

Few of these problems have been effectively addressed.

Over the last few years, clubs in trouble have always somehow been hauled back up, after some delay and hastily rearranged ways of operating.

But these safety cushions must be wearing thinner by the year.

Even larger and more glamorous clubs are reporting large operating losses. They have enough fat to survive and restructure or course.

But the Rotherhams of this world?

Could we be witnessing the start of the final domino effect that's bound to happen soon? When one club goes, a whole load will follow.

Will Rotherham be the first of many?

And did we lift ourselves out of the shxt just in time?
