The Stead deal is dead according to the club.

Is there only me that isn't that bothered about Stead?

4 goals in 30 games, with 2 being against us, was it?

we have enough strikers not capable of 20 goals a season already

In all my years of watching Barnsley

I can only recall two strikers, Mick Butler (in the 1973/74 season) & Brian Joicey (1976/77), getting 20 league goals (or more) in a season.

What we need is a 6' 9" striker to combat the Owls defence.

my post wasnt intended to have a go at our strikers, pleased we have them, workhorses who will chip in with a few,but if we really are going to progress to the next level, ie mid table or above then we need someone with that bit extra that can be a perfect foil for ogrady

The club also said the the O'Grady deal was dead.

Personally I think it's to send a message to the players/agents to say "we've made you a good offer and won't be negotiating further" so they take it or leave it.

Not overly keen on Jon Stead, we could do a lot worse but would love to see Higdon join us.

I didn't think you were, mate

And if that's how it came across, I apologise. Your post just got me thinking about how few 20 goals a season strikers have played for us.

I'm sure flicker could get the best from him, but I wouldn't be chasing him. Average at best

I'd give Tompole a go in the Dagnall role. He must be one of our more prolific scorers for the time he's had on the pitch?

    I remember that, too

By the end of the 1987/88 season Currie had scored twenty-odd goals for Darlington in Division 4 and seven for us in the 2nd Division.

Did Hignett hit 20 in 99/2000?

    Re: I remember that, too

Hignett was a midfielder, who played the odd game as a striker. I didn't include God Glavin, either. I was talking about strikers who'd scored 20 league goals in a season for us. Not ones who'd scored that total split between two seasons, or split between two clubs.
