</p> So takeover rumours are appearing around Hillsborough again, it was around this time of the season a couple of years ago that the Ken Bates saga began. <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" border="0"><tbody><tr><td> Dave Richards has apparently been seen here and there with our current chairman Mr Allen, on other occasions with Mr Allen AND King Paul. So is this REALLY an indication of a takeover? The stories about the American geezer trying to take over at S6 were flying around a while back too and they are back as well, is it just a coincidence? We all know that a takeover would be good because of the lack of spending on the squad, and raising the black cloud that is the small matter of the multi million debt. But is it realistic? It could well be spin from the man in charge at the moment, it may not be but the pressure never ends on the board down at our beloved S6 does it. If Dave Richards was to return to S6 (which i personally can't see happening) then the man who I feel is responsible for setting the snowball rolling down the hill may be able to make it worse! I know nothing about his management skills, or his businesses and I don't want to. My (our)beloved Owls are though, and I detest the thought that this bloke could make things worse. Would he give up the top job in football that he has? Yes he help elevate us into a Championship contender back in 1994 but the players he authorised, well the wages and fees he authorised back in that time was scandelous. We all know the Wim Jonks and the Gilles De Bildes, it wasn't their fault that they were on the wages. Dave Richards said yes to their ridiculous demands, we had a MASSIVE wage bill when we were relegated from the Premiership for players that were NEVER going to get us back up into the top flight. Mr Richards obviously has a massive influence on english football in his current job, he is helping choose the next England manager for gods sake, this is the same bloke that begged Big Ron to return after he shafted us a few years earlier!! Football clubs these days are subject to takeover bids left and right, it doesn't happen to us does it really? Whats the reason for this? Is it the current boards demands for the return of as much money as possible into their coffers so the prospective buyers are disinterested before they even get round the boardroom table for a chat? I dont think we have a divine right to be in the Premiership, I never have, but all i expect as a fan is that we are not shafted by sub standard running of OUR club. We have suffered this for far too long. Back in the days of Bert Mcgee we didn't spend much cash but that was when players didnt take home 5 million a year and effort and application were paramount, this is whats all wrong in football but thats another story. We have had some fantastic players in my lifetime supporting Wednesday so far, on the other side of the coin i now see a bloke running the football side of the club as one of the best managers in my lifetime. I just keep my fingers crossed that all these problems aren't going to force the manager out as well. Your Jack Walkers don't happen any more do they, we have the new generation of superfan. Abramovic types, looking over on the club like its a game of monopoly. We need investment at our club that is for sure but we also need to keep OUR club, not let it become the plaything for the next russian tycoon or whoever to destroy everything that we stand for. The closeness to the players is like nothing i have seen anywhere else, you would never get this at old stratford or Moscow (sorry Stamford Bridge!) Like i say its OUR club, I just hope that IF someone comes in they do it right. Our fanbase is the lifeblood of the club, yes i do want someone in to sort out the financial future and stability but not at the expense of everysingle person who sits in that ground on a matchday to watch their heroes no matter how good/bad/indifferent they play. </td></tr></tbody></table></p>
