Perhaps it's because unaccompanied under 17s have been running riot and pissing everybody off, so everybody now has to suffer.
And that's a fact (possibly - unless site admin have changed fact to fiction, in which case both words will be the same.)
FACT

harsh but fair Search for Barnsley on youtube (or follow the link that jaffa posted) and you'll see that its a case of a minority of immature little shits who don't know how to behave in public that are spoiling it for everyone.
The simple fact is that Barnsley has to look out for the interests of the majority of fans that use the official travel as well as ensuring their safety (people wouldnt be allowed to jump up and down behind the driver of a car for example) and apart from anything else protecting the name of Barnsley FC.
Maybe a compromise for next season? Have an official supporters coach club that you have to join to use the coaches. First sign of trouble from anyone and they get banned. It would stop the trouble makers (who no doubt will say they are only having a bit of banter) but will mean that the innocent fans are not punished.
Maybe season tickets, supporters club, supporters coach, centenary and other club members could all use the same member card that carries your photo? IT would stop this supposed ticket touting that is happening too and would reduce costs for all the various groups.

RE: harsh and unfair The overwhelming majority of kids who go with their mates to away matches are impeccably behaved. Its ludicrous to ban all 14,15 and 16 yr olds from official coaches without an adult.
One solution, ban all official travel from the club and get your own unofficial travel scheme going!!
There is an official statement on the Website which says.... BARNSLEY Football Club can unfortunately confirm that, due to ever-increasing legislation in relation to child protection, youngsters under the age of 16 will not be able to travel on our official club coaches to away matches unless accompanied by an adult. Barnsley FC staff and coach stewards are not qualified to provide childcare for unaccompanied youngsters aged under 16 on our official coaches and as a result all children travelling to away games with the Reds must now be under the supervision of an adult.
RE: Define 'adult' looks like the train from now on, thats the only way i can get to away matches now..
