Couple of points from the Newcastle match programme - fao the Oakwell hierarchy.

    1. Subscription to Newcastle World (equivalent of Barnsley World) - £17.99 p.a. (BW - £35???). Plus chances to win
a signed shirt and loads of other goodies.

    2. Purchase a Season ticket this season and commit to one next - you get FREE admission to ALL home cup games,
including any possible European matches. The chairman accepts the club may well lose money on the deal, but reckons
it's more important to have a full crowd in for those games.

Something for Barnsley to consider next season???

So, that'd be free admission to the League Cup 1st round and the FA Cup 3rd round? :D

I'm sure the reason the NUFC World is basically half the price of ours is because they'll have at least twice as many subscribing, supply and demand!

    I wouldn't

Unless it was free, so have that (neer)

I just think it's the same kinda argument as, "Man Utd's shirts are £25 and ours are £40"

John - as far as I'm aware NTL provide both Premiership and...

Football League 'World' facilities - so I can't really see the need for the difference in pricing. Yep they'll get more subscribers
from Prem teams, but the costs are the same regardless of where the respective club plays. Presumably then they get more
profit per head from us than the Geordies??!

If our shirts were cheaper then more kids would have them

same as if they were available at other places , more kids would be able to get them.

But, you don't know that for a fact

I know what you're saying, but you can't prove it.

I'm sure our chairman(or one of our previous ones) was asked why he didn't drop prices to a tenner in for a few home matches, and his answer was, "we simply can't prove we'll get more fans and make a profit, it's too risky" or something along those lines.

    Stands to reason

if a product is cheaper down the road , people will take that option, if Barnsley want to increase the sales of shirts etc, then making them more affordable to youngsters is a way forward. If everyone took the line of The Barnsley Board then , you might as well just ask the first person in the queue to pay 200,00 quid to get in just in case the rest of the fans dont turn up!

Certainly worked for Leicester when they played us last season, John...

at the Walkers. Dropped their prices (but not for us!) and got their biggest gate of the season - 31000+.

Yes, it's a risk - but Shep will never know how risky it is unless he takes it! :D Who knows - we might
even make a bit of dosh on the deal!

Wasn't that a Christmas "present" from Leicester City to their fans?

And the preverbial two fingers to us?!

I remember very little from that day, but Nardi-yellow did well. :D

Yes it was - but no reason why we couldn't do similar?

And I'm not surprised you remember little from that afternoon!! The rest of us needed all weekend to get
    our hearing back! :D

    We did do similar

We did it for the Leicester home match and sold the home end out. The biggest home support for years. Drop the prices, significantly raise the attendance. The Leicester match proved that.

    I agree

    My singing was awful :D

Seriously though, there's nothing to stop us giving our fans a "present" but can you see it happening? I know I can't!
