The striker suffered a broken collarbone in pre-season and is unlikely to be used in tomorrow's reserve-team match at Stoke. He is set to return to action early next week. Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie is monitoring the former Manchester United trainee's progress closely. Despite Nardiello's improvement, Ritchie admits he could be in the market to sign a centre-forward on loan next week. "I think we need five strikers," he said. "We already have good strikers at the club. We have various irons in the fire but we will not bring someone in for the sake of it. We have to be sure they are as good as or better than what we've got." Barnsley have Paul Hayes and Marc Richards as their first choice front two with Tommy Wright, Michael Coulson and Nathan Jarman waiting in the wings alongside Nardiello. Loan deals can be made starting next week although the transfer window is closed until Christmas. Ritchie has stressed that another striker is his only target at present. "We have cover for every other position," he said. </div>
RE: Courtesy of online Star - I disagree with Ritchie's 'only target' comment. Defender needed li "We need five strikers"</p> Then six are named, but we still want one. One or two MUST be considered surplus to requirements, and must be moving out on loan.</p> Jarman</p>
