Set off intending to see Ossett Albion play FC Halifax Town in Unibond League. Car park was full when we got there and side roads packed, so knowing that it's a tiny ground with only one turnstile we chalked **** on it and popped up the road to watch Dewsbury Rams and London in a game o' proper rugby.
Bit one-sided - Rams edged it 70-0 - but we were treated to 12 tries and a superb display of goal-kicking, with no less than 11 conversions most of which came from the sidelines.
Just over 1000 people there, great atmosphere, pints on the terraces, generous applause for good play by either side - and 100% commitment from every player at every stage of the game (you just can't play League any other way).
Wish the Beautiful Game could be like that again.
