Everyone seems to think he's gone in January - where to though? I don't think any clubs higher up the league will be interested in him, and he's nowhere near good enough for the Premier League. He's been playing pretty averagely ever since the Birmingham game, I know he's had injury problems but he was allegedly injured when he put four goals away that game. He might have been a bit unlucky with offside flags today but the chance he had where he ran the ball straight out of play when his opportunity to shoot had gone was a bit pathetic really. I do like him and he's a decent player who I'd like us to hang on to but I just don't see who would be interested in him anyway.
I think there are a few clubs who would take him on in the championship, but it would be more for benchwarming than regular starts I would imagine.
we've got to be very careful here in my opinion, because if one of the teams in the bottom 6 decide to offer him and steele more money then we can and a decent transfer fee the don will let them go and that to my would see us down.
Former Barnsley players love bench warming though....Hammill, Howard, Butterfield - or he will be when he goes back.
He's definitely got the talent. But needs to learn when to pass or shoot as he tends to make the wrong choice in my opinion. Also, can be a little greedy, but I suppose good strikers tend to be.
Davies will walk away from the club next summer because we cannot afford to keep him - its as simple as that. However, if a reasonable bid came in he could go in January. Reasonable.........would be £500k+++ Anything lower than that and the club would try to keep him to stave off relegation. There's likely to be a big debate at the club if a bid did come in for him i.e. is it worth taking the money and risking relegation and who could replace him. The club has been burnt badly with the Vaz Te saga. I would imagine he will eventually sign for a midlands or London club, seeing that he is from the midlands area.
Anywhere that pays him more money than Barnsley. My guess will be: Birmingham, Sheffield w, bristol city, Leeds. Steele is different, I think he is genuinely committed to the club and probably stay until the summer, even if offered more.
He scored 4 goals at Birmingham and if you take theses away from him his goal tally isn't that good. 8 goals, 4 in 1 game shows he is an inconsistent scorer. Charlie Austin has 18 goals and is scoring much more frequently. Unless Davies starts scoring more regularly he will slip well down the Championship scoring tables. Clubs will only be interested in him if he is better than what they have. Managers will look at his consistency, not that he scored 4 in one game.
It doesn't look that good does it? He hasn't scored that many Championship goals either. He's looking more like a League One player than Championship quality. Without 3 of the Birmingham goals he would be well outside the top 25 in the scoring tables.
If we are offered a decent wedge for him we could do a lot worse than taking it and replacing him with Tudgay.
I see history is repeating itself In 2012 it's Craig Davies, 2011 it was Jacob Butterfield, 2010 Adam Hammill, 2008 Brian Howard. A probability of one our better players leaving suddenly transforms the lad from being a lynch pin to the team, to one whose not going to be missed if they go, isn't as good as the lad himself thinks he is, has his strengths and contributions deliberately and significantly downplayed, any weaknesses exaggerated to a ridiculous degree, the intelligentsia will claim they never rated him and can't understand why anyone else does and we'll even be better off without them. Naturally, all this then gets denied when pointed out. Well, for me, Craig Davies is the best striker we've had at this level since Neil Shipperley, we'll miss him when he goes and we're going to be worse off.
Me too. I wont take to criticising you for yours though. If we get offered a million for a player with 6 months left and we can get a good replacement I think we have to do it.
I think Birmingham would be interested in him. In fairness to Craig, the supply to him hasn't been particularly good of late. Mellis and Cywka went off the boil, and when we play himmm on his own up front or out wide he doesn't look like scoring
The club aren't going to get anywhere near that figure It's become an annual event now. Nothing is mentioned when these players are at the top of their game. But as soon as the transfer rumours start, the criticisms begin and build until the player leaves. Unless, of course, it's merely coincidence. I'm a great believer of people airing their views, even if I completely disagree with them (like in this case). But I also have a right to express my opinions, too, and be allowed to challenge someone else's standpoint. People should be allowed to debate.
