well why not, yeah bet that shocked a few. He is one of our legends, and according to the media they are lookong for a legend maybe. He has been away and done his coaching badges/certificates etc. OK he has not been in management as of yet.. but hey when did Wilson take the leap.. or any manager for that matter. There is no such thing as a ready made man for whatever post in life. We all have to learn at some point. One HUGE point I will try to hi-lite in Hignetts life is this. He was very much moulded by a man who has been lauded as one of the best coaches ..Dario Gradi, does that count at all? At this moment BFC are on the ropes and the biggest piss take in South Yorkshire.. we need someone to grab the scruff of the neck and get us going. Hignett may be that guy, but for sure we need it to happen and happen soon..sorry but Flicker is just not that man by the way.
It would be a great step up for him who is reportedly coaching U14. He has nothing in his coaching back ground to suggest he is the man for the job. The trouble with this site is everyone thinks they know what is going on when in reality nobody does and the local media are getting their stories off here.
It would be a massive gamble and could backfire badly. I'd prefer an experienced man at this level and if we must have a legend we could have one as assistant.
Anybody in this situation would be a gamble (even Fergie). At least he'd get the crowd on side which is more than a lot of the other names being mentioned. Seriously, who's going to get a stiffy on at the thought of Megson,Ince,Cockwell, etc getting the gig?
Wilson had the not inconsequential help from a certain Eric Winstanley....Hignett would need similar experienced side-kick IMHO.
So we get Hignett, loses first two matches, because he is listening to Cole. What he saw a Midlesboro doesn't work with Barnsley. Back in **** Oooooops
