mate in Leeds got taken to hospital at 2 in the morning with a bad gash to his face plastic surgeon there within 1/2 hr I went to hospital in Barnsley with broken toes after an accident at work at 3 o'clock can you come back later the x-ray department doesn't open till 9-00"
tell you what young man , you'd be lost without it ''hospital '' not your thumb , it's a point worth arguing for , a thing i don't like doing '' but it's a godsend and were lucky to have it , so grow up and start appreciating it , and stop moaning .. 'sorry'.. it's my age ....(wicked)
Just be thankful you're in UK and not USA. Friend of mine working in USA had to get her parents to "Bail her out" because her dislocated elbow cost £1700 to fix. She couldn't leave the country til the cheque had cleared.
Whilst you are moaning about having to wait for treatment the Nurses and Doctors were treating more urgent cases. People who's needs were more serious than yours.
The last time I was in Hospital my surgery was cancelled at 6pm after I had been fasted since midnight. To say I was pissed of was an understatement, I was in agony and couldn't walk. Next morning I was first in the operating theater and had a piece of needle file removed from my knee, it had penetrated the cartilege and broke off in the femur. Later that day a Doctor came and apologised for my cancelation. They had been putting a young guy back together again who had been in a very serious road traffic accident. Without that treatment he would have died. At night I was kept awake by his crys of pain. My own suffering pailed into insignificance compared to what that poor kid was going through. I was in there for 25 days, the last nine days I was in I shared a ward with a guy called Dave. Dave was a smashing bloke and he had cancer of the colon. He had been fighting it for 5 years and had a wound in his back the size of a mans fist. He had been given 7 days to live the day I was transfered to his ward. He battled on for another month or so before he died. So don't come on here complaining about having to wait for treatment when others who are more seriously injured are being treated. Barnsley Hospital is one of the best in the Country. It's Doctors, Nurses and other staff are the most important asset the Town and District has.

''jesus'' after that speech i bet you can walk on water. but well said ..can you swim , course you can i forgot ..(Y)
Not so Crap service at barnsley hospital I happen to live in Wath and would normaly come under Rotherham Hospital for treatment. In Feb 2004 I was admitted to B.D.G.H. where I remained in a critical condition for five days in intensive care. The staff were wonderful and most cetainly saved my life and, as a result I can say that on the 9th of March I will now be celerbrating my 60th birthday ,which otherwise, had it not been for these wonderful people, I would most certainly be dead and also, neither would I have been here to witness the re-birth of B.F.C.
and all for nowt what do you want for nowt? you could alus pay and see where that gets you. in 1995 i paid £75 at the clairmont in sheff for a EEG i never got the results, so i went to bdgh got sorted and within 12 week had operation to treat my condition
Blimey JC ! A concise, well thought out and articulate outburst! Not what we're used to seeing on here. It'll only get you bullied.
I'm sure BDGH have done wonderful things for many of you, I can remember them helping me a lot and as a nurse myself I understand all about clinical priorities, staff allocation and budget constraints.
This does not excuse inability to communicate and ineptitude like locking a key away.
Typical British attitude "grin and bear it", "be grateful you're not in America where you'd have to pay" - no excuse for crap service, the hospitals are there to do an efficient job, they are not free you pay for them through your taxes, you should not settle for shoddy service.
Get an official complaint put in, not in the intention of causing anybody any grief, it will mean that BDGH should look into the problem and prevent a farce like that happening to anyone else.
