All this talk recently about lack of creativity has got me thinking. Is it that we don't play the right formation or is it that players are being picked to play in the wrong position?

For me its both. Why have Dawson on the wing and JOB in the middle of the park like at Forest, its just doesn't work. I know everyone has an opinion on what formation we should play and we should be interchangable and multipositional like Barcelona or Chelsea but for me lets get back to basics.

Cardiff play 4-4-2. They look solid defensively and strong with the ball, even in the Premiership. Playing 4-4-2 gives you the licence to play two 'grafters' in the middle of the park as your wingers bring the creative edge. We've got enough wingers in our squad at the moment to sink a battleship so why not use them!? I'd love us to line up tomorrow with RNL on the left and Jennings on the right with Perkins and Kelvin in the middle. Purley because McCourt isn't fit enough to play and I think JOB is still injured (?)

At the moment its far too negative and we are trying not to lose games (and failing miserably) rather than going at teams and trying to win by stifling the midfield with 3 work horses. It reminds me of my favourite quote I've ever heard leaving a football ground....a Barnsley fan leaving Oakwell 'what good is it having all these players that can carry the concert piano when there is no-one to play it?!' I think that sums up our lack of creativity up perfectly.
