Not on when you are spending hundreds of pounds buying a season ticket. Just been charged £2 quid after spending £428 at the box office. The only time someone has ever tried to charge me for paying by credit card is the corner shop when my spend was going to be under a fiver.
Theyve done it for years mate. I could understand if your paying over the phone and they have to pop stuff in the post. I was looking at taking credit card payments for my own business and yes it costs a monthly fee to hire the machine but im sure £2.00 per transaction still renders BFC quids in.
Go to any other shop on the high street and they don't pass on the charge to the consumer. Whether it be Tesco, PC World or Esso. If they can absorb it, then I'm sure BFC can.
They get cash from me - and it'll cost em more to process it.
Still in the dark ages in so many respects.

Is cost less than handling cash, yet there is no "hidden" charge for that.
They'll get cash from me from now on, possibly in pennies just to be extra arsey.

Went last Friday... To pay with Debit Card and got lucky as the £2 transaction process wasn't working so i got charged £270.
Where I work the charge is between 1.5 and 2% whatever the payment is, and this is charged by the credit card company not by us.
Another retailer to avoid then. Smart businesses realise that the ease of a VISA payment is to be welcomed not penalised and therefore deterred from using.
We aren't a retailer. People have the choice of paying by debit card, but the point is that different companies are charged different amounts of money by credit card companies for transactions made by their customers, probably depending on the nature of business. Someone paying £200 on card here would be charged at least £3 - but like I said we don't charge anything. Because of the nature of business we are in we will not absorb the costs which some retailers decide to do. Basically BFC will be charged when people make a payment by credit card, so why should they foot the cost? If 5000 people paid on debit card that's a lot of money they're charged.
Cash costs around 50p per £100 to pay in For business accounts, not for personal ones. So it costs the club about £1.35 to pay in the £270 cash they collect for a ticket. However, if they have any outgoings which they can pay in cash (wages, petty cash purchases etc) they can offset this to reduce the bank charges.
RE: Bang on! I'll have a 'pop' at whoever tries to charge me unnecessarily. 99% of the companies who I try to pay by credit card don't charge me for paying them that way, so I don't see why BFC should get away with it.
Really? Is that every business? We get payments of many thousands of pounds regularly and other departments millions. So if we get a payment of a million pounds it costs £5000 to bank?
Is it in terms of staffing? And the time it takes to count out the money? If that's the reason, then the staff will be there until their finishing time whether they're counting money or doing **** all, so realistically it doesn't cost any more. Unless they've got staff living at Oakwell who only clock on when they need to count money...
BFC aren't charging... They're passing on the cost to you. And their sales figures won't be the same as high street stores, so it doesn't make as much sense to absorb the cost.
RE: BFC aren't charging you How do you know that it's not BFC's choice, just because it isn't your company's choice. Why are they different from Tesco, Esso and PC World who only charge me for the price of the goods I'm purchasing.
