We were playing absolutely gash and going nowhere, so he did something about it and got a couple of subs on with plenty of time to influence the game. Thankfully we didn't do anything stupid like playing three up front, but stuck to 4-4-2. Odejayi added some presence up front and Hassell some bite in midfield and we began to give Derby something to think about. An absolute peach from Hume and a great header from Foster and at last we've got three points on the board. Hurrah! We've still got some problems, without Odejayi in the side we're far too lightweight, but bugger it, we won, so I'm going to enjoy it.
Agreed Odejayi made a massive difference, as did Hassell. Howard/Leon doesn't work against the big sides. Hume looked much better on the wing, thought he was dreadful up front.
RE: Agreed got to laik Odejayi from the start, he's the only big thing we have up front. untill he came on the derby c/h#s we having a stroll in the park.
Hume out on the left.(Y)

it was 44 2 on the whole hume drifting out wide and in behind bit of a free role really, wasnt 3 up to anyway and credit to davey it worked at treat
Credit to Davey, Odejayi and Hassell who've all had some (fair) criticism. Davey made the right changes. Hume went out onto the left hand side, worked his B*ll*cks off tracking back and helping Kozluk, and scored an absolute stunner. Hassell helped to settle the game down in the middle as it was passing Leon by, but the big star was Odejayi. It was the sort of game where it IS the right decision to bring him on - we were hoofing the ball and a slow defence was winning the headers and having a stroll. He won headers, made a nuisance of himself, and put himself about a lot more than normal - leading to the ball dropping to Hume. Credit to all concerned for that.
RE: I just say it as I see it Im waiting on here for Super Tyke to praise Daveys substitutions. Don't wait up.
Seconded If I'm prepared to criticise Simon Davey when I think he gets it wrong, it's only fair to praise him when he does something I consider right. Well done Simon.
It made a change to see a sub come on so early And even though it was three strikers again, with hume playing on the wing we kept our shape which is where we normally go wrong near the end of games. Not so impressed with hassell coming on in the middle again but like you say the midfield was too lightweight and something needed to be done so considering the bench he'd picked Hassell was probably the only option. On he whole good substitutions that helped push us on to a win. Hiya SM
